2012 1000 was stripped for race use and I am just going to use an aftermarket tail/brake light license plate bracket and some pia lights in the nose. I have no power to the tail lamp plug on the main harness ground is ok but no power? Fuse is good and I have a wiring diagram I have been using so let's move past the obvious. All stock lights have been removed and sold off years ago.Are the lights all connected through a ground or do they all have to be connected to complete a circuit? Any thoughts would be appreciated and thanks in advance!

Stripped how much, i.e. is the main wiring harness intact? There was an eight pin connector with seven leads that connected to the rear lighting. There also was a separate two pin connector for the license plate light. But one of its leads (Bl) actually runs through the eight pin connector to a ground so it won't work unless the tail light or a jumper is connected. At the front, there was a sixteen pin connector that supplied the cluster and steering damper plus a six pin connector that supplied the front lights. You could connect whatever you want to it, subject to power limitations. But all bets are off if the main harness is all chopped up, in which case you probably need a new harness.

You are in urgent need of a service manual.

I have the factory service manual
factory harness is intact
the 8 pin connector is there and I am using the Brown, the white/black tracer and the black with white tracer connected to the plate holder led wires. when I test them with a test light the ground is good but the other two wires are dead. When you speak of a jumper what do you mean for the BI lead? From the pic what am I missing?

"factory harness is intact...the 8 pin connector is there"
Perhaps it was intact but it sure isn't now. It's nicely hacked up. It would have been far better to either buy a new mating eight pin connector and wire into it or cut the leads on the taillight side. The Br is power to the license plate and tail lights. The Bl is the return to ground from the license plate light and connects to the B/W ground. There are two B/W leads at the eight pin connector. Both are grounds. One is for the tail and brake light. The other is for the turn signals and license plate light. They tie together closer to the engine. I don't know why it is done that way but it may have to do with a change in wire gauge. All that can be seen in the wiring diagram in the service manual.

You're inviting big problems if you apply this standard of wiring to the front lighting. Recommend that you return to the OEM configuration or get someone involved who knows how to wire.
