2011 Suzuki GSX-R750 Review

Does a middleweight sportbike powered by a carbureted, air/oil-cooled engine with a claimed 106 crank horsepower spinning a slim 140 x 70/18 rear tire sound exciting? If it was 1985, and the above mystery bike's color scheme is blue and white, then it was the Suzuki GSX-R750 that would've had you geeked.

A Gixxer 750 with 106 ponies. How times have changed.

The GSX-R750 – arguably the bike that started the replica racer revolution – marked its 25th anniversary in 2010. Oddly, Suzuki decided to celebrate the noteworthy birthday last year by creating a limited edition GSX-R1000, designated by little more than special paint and "25th Anniversary Edition" on the mufflers and wheel rim striping.

For us in the States, 1986 was the first time we could zip down the road on a Gixxer, so this year is something of an unofficial 25th anniversary for the 750 in America. Thankfully, we at least have an upgraded and lighter weight GSX-R750 in 2011 to celebrate with – even if we're the only ones partying.

Jajajaja that is what I love about forums....
a guy with 2 post making himself brave.

yes your right.... we should be riding 500cc 2 stroke bikes.

And about this....Just because I don't troll forum(s) all day posting and looking to answer questions, basically providing answers to problems for noobies who can't figure them out themselves doesn't mean shit. Get over your Rep or post count on an internet forum loser.
jjajajajjajajaja get a life and get laid.....then...

your right a 750cc is not a beginer bike by any means.
BUT even experts like you get on the ground more easy on a slipery road and TC and ABS help.
It would be nice if they have it and you (especialy you) could turn them off.
I just upgraded from an 09 ZX6R to an 07 GSXR 750 and I am absolutely loving it! I'm on my way from a die-hard Kawi fan to a Gixxer guy. I'm really digging a lot of small differences between Suzuki and Kawi.

Personally, I'm not into the looks on the 2011 models so much though??
I agree with you about 2011 models, I mean, all the models. I don't like the underseat exhaust and bug head lights of the yamaha R1, the CBR 1000 looks like it ran into something with the nose, the new kawasaki ZX 10r looks just plain wierd to me, like it was scrunched down somehow, so, to me, the suzuki's actually look the best to me of the new models. I'm thinking about the 750, but I think its gonna be the black one. I'm not crazy about the color of the blue white one. IMO the 600 looks much better in the blue white than the 750. The black plasic in the side of the head light area kinda ruins the blue white 750. The black looks goodie to me though! Might have to get one soon.
my buddy picked up one in black about 2 weeks ago. I have rode it several times now and its a really good feeling bike the only problem is I dont like the styling at all. Just like many other people were saying. I like the look of my k6 so much more.
I like it nut it will be 2012~2014 before I buy a *new* bike.
I upgraded from the K7 750 to this one and I have to say I love it. This is one of the best bikes that I have ever had. A lot of people have their opinions about the look of this bike. I for think it is sexy as hell. The lines are great and the bike just flows, for me anyway. Coming from the K7 I loved that bike but when I first saw this one I had to have it and I am happy with it. The only drawback for me was the HID Headlights not being on this model. But we all know thats an easy fix if your willing to fab a little bit. I plan on making that change this winter. I am sure to hold on to this one for a while.

Corie
i just got to ride one yesterday and this thing is amazing
The only drawback for me was the HID Headlights not being on this model.
The previous models (from 2006 to last year) had projector beam lenses. There were no HID bulbs in there, just plain old halogen.
I have had an 01 and 05 750 and now an 07 750. I rocked them all on the track several times. I agree with Tony (I aint calling no dude sweet dick LOL), I dont care about TC or ABS. The 07 750 is an awesome track/street bike. The handling is far superior over the 01 & 05. The 2011's look fine too me, I will be putting on track plastics anyway and paint it whatever color scheme I want. Lighter, more power and even if the handling is the same as the 07 it will be a better bike. I moved my friends 2011 7 fiddy in the parking lot a few weeks ago and it felt like I was pushing a 250!!! I can't wait to rip one on the track or thru the mountain twisties!!!:cheers
I have a 2011 GSX-R750 and it is a fantastic bike. I highly recommend it. Some don't like how it looks in pictures, but in real life it is very handsome. I did do some minor mods (600 blue front fender, reflector removal, Chase Harper Stealth saddle bags [sacrilege, I know], M4 GP slipon exhaust, passenger peg removal, Yoshimura case savers, and highlighted Brembos). It now looks better than stock. My 750 now weighs the same as the 2011 GSX-R600 and makes the same power as the original Yamaha R1 (which they said had too much power for its own good, at the time). Yet my 750 is still docile and super smooth in traffic. A true wolf in sheep's clothing. I have written my own review, just check my posts. My favorite gixxer 750 model (as far as looks) is the blue 2004 (just needed a shorter muffler).

ugly cyclops looking headlight , they should have kept the 08 -10 style headlight or modified it a lil .
You have your mythology all wrong. The cyclops had one eye. The 2011 GSX-R has vertically stacked dual headlights. They made it that way since it is lighter and more aerodynamic. My photos have a forced perspective that make the headlight appear bigger than it seems. Frankly, I am glad that they don't have to put a face on this bike (two headlight eyes and an air intake mouth) to make it appealing. For example, the old ZX6R looked like a pregnant guppy and new ZX6R looks like a "Transformer" movie reject.

I like the new headlight because it harkens back to the 2004 gixxer headlight, and like I said, I think the 2004 was a good looking bike. It also casts a good light at night and that is what matters.

i dont care if zues himself built the bike , ugly and looks like a 07 with botox . also , a slap in the face for the blue and white color scheme in my opinion . guess the shorter wheel base makes up for it .
I just got a new 2011 GSXR 750 4 weeks ago and I LOVE IT!

It does look a little Plain Jane when next to some of the other bikes but most of the time they are only seeing my dealer license plate from behind me!
The bike actually looks nice in photos... but when I saw it in the store, I thought, did this thing run face first into a wall? The nose of the bike is terrible. Then again I said that about the 08-10's... and now I love them.
Compared to the Smash-nosed Hondas, Transformer Kawasakis , and Insectoid Yamahas, the new GSX-Rs look beautiful. I am not sure why this thread is all about cosmetics. As someone who owns the new 750, I can tell you that it is functionally and technologically a wonderful bike. It weighs less than some 600s and makes more power than some liter bikes. It is smooth and docile in traffic, but can hustle with the best of them on the back roads.

They tilted up the engine to bring the head stock further back to shorten the wheel base. The front and rear overhangs are less. So yes, it is shorter. But apparently blunt is "in" as far as aerodynamics and RAM air induction. I can do without the pointy beak on older sportbikes.

Walking up to it the other day I realized how tiny this bike is. Suzuki has basically shrunk the 600 down to 500 size and then wedged in a 750 engine. I think they got it perfect.

i have over 10 bikes in my garage as for the gixxers i have the 07 the 08 the 09 the 10 and 11 750 lets be honest for a second this one is by far the best one they have made. it does not compare to my other gixxers, actually im thinking of selling the older ones, the 2011 made my other gixxers feel like shit. and as far as looks go, this is the best looking one period. sorry guys. but i think all of you are just talking smack about this because you cannot upgrade. i bet if you had the 2011 you would talk smack about the previous ones. dont be so silly. this is by far the best 750 to date period.
