2011 Suzuki GSX-R600 and GSX-R750 Revealed

American Suzuki surprised the industry last year by deciding not to import 2010 streetbikes while it tried to clear inventory in a depressed market. But for 2011, it's rebounding in a big way with the introduction of a comprehensively reworked GSX-R600 and its identical-twin brother, the GSX-R750.

The GSX-R series is integral to Suzuki, so the Gixxer 600 and 750 received a major investment in technology and updates.

"We built our brand from the GSX-Rs," said Steve Bartolamedi, American Suzuki's senior communications manager. More than 300,000 Gixxers have been sold over the years, and the GSX-R600 has long been America’s best-selling sportbike.

For once the stock exhaust does not look too bad? :dunno

The headlight is "old school." If you wanted HID's on the L1 it would not work very well being that they went back to the reflector lenses.

But overall the bike looks good and the tasty bits really make it worthy of a hard look. The price though, $400 difference???
Wow, she sure is pretty!! Looks like I am going to have to trade up this year!!
Hey, some advise while I am at it... I have a 600 now and would like to upgrade ... realistically what is the difference in the 750 and the 1000 (other than cc's obviously..lol)
It looks great, it's a Suzuki after all, here are some of my thoughts... :cheers

Not a fan of the headlights, I love the dual highbeam reflectors and single lowbeam projector design on the K8 through L0 600/750's. :twitch

Amazed with the overall weight savings on the bike, and I'd love to have those Brembos! :thumbup

The graphics on the black need to go, along with the gold forks. :dissapointed

The stock exhaust looks way better than K8 to L0 but most of the time that gets changed out anyway. :burnout

Great to see everyones opinions and their likes/dislikes, keep em coming!! :p

Brembos and Lighter weight have me excited. Old school reflector headlight and overall design have me frowning.

I'll probably sell my 07 600 and pickup an 08/09 750 one of these days.
These bikes aren't supposed to have headlights and tail lights anyway.............at least when I own them they don't. But then again I use them for what they are intended for. :biggrin
Hmm, 40 pounds lighter, Brembos, and only $400 more for the 750. Very intriguing. I was hoping to see traction control though before adding another 750 to my stable. Probably might pass on this gen too...
Hmm, 40 pounds lighter,
You must be using those new 8-ounce pounds... :p

Not a direct answer, but... take a look at torque and power curves for the 600 and 750. And compare them to a V twin like the SV650.

At typical street speeds, it's not horsepower that counts... it's torque. That's what gives you a kick in the butt accelerating out of corners or passing cars.

Arguably, a bike like the SV650 is a better real-world choice (i.e. on the street, not the track) than a 600 supersport, because it makes power and torque down where it's usable on the street.

Unless I'm badly mistaken (haven't looked at the charts in a while) the SV650 actually makes MORE power and torque than the GSXR600 at low to moderate RPM, where most of your street riding really takes place. The big difference is that as you accelerate, the 600 makes more and more power, while the 650 V twin levels out.

The 750, like the V-twin, makes more power and torque down low. And like the 600, it also makes power (just more of it) when opened up. So you get streetability AND warp speed, all in one.

A 1000 will give you more of everything. More torque, more power, more weight, more fuel consumption, more insurance cost, more purchase price, more risk if you ride like a twit.....

It's two models at 20 lbs each so 40 total lol. Seriously I was just typing too fast :lol
adouglas.. thanks for the advice :) i know my husband is a huge fan of the v-twin but i dont really think its my think. it may sound dumb but i prefer the sound of a supersport engine.. he has a 09 cbr 1000rr and i have ridden it a few times but i much rather prefer the style and fit of the gsxr series.

Me too. My common sense tells me to get an SV as my next bike because it matches the kind of riding I do. But my glands tell me to get a supersport....

If the cost of insurance is not too great, to me a 750 is a great blend of real-world street power delivery (as in, you don't have to wring its little Japanese neck to travel at realistic road speeds) and ultimate power. All else being equal, it seems to me that a literbike is just overkill. In the real world, it won't do anything a 750 can't. On the track, different story.

My dream machine right now is the BMW, but lordy...I really don't want or need that much power. If somebody were to take that electronics package and put it on a midrange bike I'd be first in line.
I'm sold. Sign me up for a 750.

yea my husband as well is already wanting to trade in his brand new bike for the bmw 1k but good grief that is quite a price difference really. and to be honest how much different could it possibly be?!

i think i have officially decided on the 750 because i feel the same way u do, a 1k for me is just overkill. i mean i do sport ride but i never get it on the track so what i use it for it can definately keep me in with the pack! ;)

hey kinda off topic really.. um the seat on my 07 600 is horrible, do you know of a good replacement seat that is a little more comfortable? idk if its just cuz im a girl but the damn thing is like a race seat.. lol
I think the headlight looks better than the previous models (dunno why everyone is hatin). I'm gonna pre-order! BPFs and Brembos for me please! If you want to learn more about the new 2011 design and features, go here:

Welcome to the wonderful world of sportbikes. Most if not all seats on sportbikes are flat and stiff to allow riders to slide across them while on the track. (exceptions of course being something like an F4i with that horrid banana seat) Makes it easier to set up for corners if you aren't having to force your butt to move across the seat.

There are some good replacement seats with gel padding that really make a difference. Should be able to find something fairly easily with all of the vendor links available.

Corbin is well regarded in general.

Me, I pay a lot of attention to how I sit on the bike. I do not put all my weight on my butt as a rule, and I move around a lot, changing how my weight is distributed. Ride the bike like a jockey rides a race horse....use your thighs.

My current bike is a newgen Ninja 250R, which according to many has a crappy seat. Well, last year I did 2,600 miles in ten days straight and was never, not once, really uncomfortable... because of the above. Tired after a long day, sure, but I never had monkey butt or cramps.

IMHO too many people sit static on bikes for long periods and that's why they're uncomfortable.

Sorry for the hijack

I have the gsxr gel seat and love it.

looks good.. headlight is ok. my 07 is still better looking. this has potential, as with all gsx-r's
Whats up with the 1000 any new updates on hen it will be released. :banghead
I noticed the rectifier has been moved to a different location on the left side. It's no longer next to the radiator (check it out at motorcyledaily.com where they have a picture with the fairings off).

Overall, I like the new look but what really has me interested is the Brembo calipers and the lighter weight. However, I don't know if it's worth the much higher price.
Any idea when this 2011 beast is going to hit the dealerships? Spring 2011?
