Coming to you live from the U.S. press launch of the 2009 Suzuki GSX-R1000 at Willow Springs International Raceway in Rosamond, CA!

In many ways you can call the Gixxer Thou "all-new." The venerable AMA Superbike multi-time championship-winning machine has received numerous updates to the engine, chassis, brakes, bodywork, etc, etc.

The new mill has revised cases, now two-piece instead of three from '08; bore and stroke is now more oversquare (74.5 x 57.3mm from 73.4 x 59.0mm) for higher-revving performance and is joined by bigger pistons; the cylinder head is new and joined by larger Ti valves and new and improved camshafts; the pistons are now larger; new crankshaft has new crankshaft-end oiling system; airbox is new. This is just a smattering of the many changes to the new and very powerful liter engine.

It's a great Bike. There is only one thing wrong with it. The rear Suspension. I have Modified my Bike with:

The first GPR Stabilizer (Props to Loren @ GPR San Diego)

ASV Levers- Yoshimura Full System-Dunlop 211's- Yoshimura Case Saver's- Ohlins TTX Rear Shock- BFGoodrich Brake Lines- Brake Tech Rotors- Race Power Commander- BMC Air Filter( Dyno @ Lee's Cycle 176.9 WHP and 81.3 TQ. I love the bike but like I said the only negative is the stock REAR shock. The Front is the shit!!!!!!
I'm getting one with in the next couple of months it just to bad ass of a bike to over look.

A good deterrent but that bike can still be taken in minutes with a set of bolt cutters and a knife. Sucks, but that is just the way it it.

Actually no it cant. Thats a Kryptonite chain and anchor system. you would need an angle grinder to cut through that. It was profiled in Maxim magazine. Plus its only about 15 feet from my bedroom window, well within my shotguns range :) I am getting lo-jack on it on Monday. Its the kind that notifies you if it starts to move.

The other strap is just a tie down. My old bike got blown over in a windstorm and messed it all up so ever since then I used that.

Did I mention its parked accross the street from a police car?
I'm hopeful a member of the Committee will be able to make an announcement in the coming weeks about registration pricing for this event. :punk

Nice bike, I'd get a cover for it as well.

When all is said and done, though, the sad reality is that if someone really wants your bike, they'll find a way to get it, esp. in today's tough economic times. Don't mean to make you paranoid but that's just the way things are...
I Want The '09 In Black Bad. I Got Approved For The Honda, But I Won't Feel Complete Without A Gixxer One Thou. There's No Other Liter Bike On The Planet Like It.
what will the 2010 weigh? any ideas. the 09 feels stable but a bit heavy

Nice, how much did you get it for up there in MD if you dont mind me asking.

o yeah... you should run the chain through the frame instead of the just the rim. Im sure people would just take the wheel right off and run with the majority of the bike.

(i had my 07 gsxr 600 blk/blue stolen :(

awsome mods scgixxer. Could you explain what you were feeling with the rear suspension that made you dislike it.

FOR EVERYONE TO ANSWER::::::

I have not heard many chat about Taylorracing Exhausts. I love how they are tucked underneath the bike. Is there a performance issue with them or looks? Cant figure out why not that many people go with them. I would love to.

no 2010 's ! just 600 & 750's.looking at a 09 for myself, i miss riding the litre bikes.
