I have a 2008 Suzuki GSXR1000. All of a sudden for no reason my brake lights don't work. I can't find a specific fuse that handles specifically brake lights, but all the other fuses are fine. I looked over every inch of the electrical system, there are no breaks anywhere. I'm stumped, I have no idea what the issue is. I fix everything on my bike so I'm not used to having to go to a dealership for help, but I'm at my end I have no idea how to fix this. Anyone have any ideas? My bike is an older bike so I'm assuming that someone has had this issue. I would appreciate any help, thanks!

AH HA!!! I figured it out! Maybe this will help people that have this problem. I went back and looked at the issue and noticed that my back light was actually brighter than it should be. I just realized that the brake light was ON! Not off. Which is why when I used the front or rear brakes nothing happened.

Realizing this I remembered that I had replaced the rear brake line with a steel braided brake line and must have bumped something. Long story short I had to adjust my foot brake peddle because it was a little too sensitive and was keeping the rear brake light on. I simply made that adjustment and my brake light went off. Tada! I have my brake lights back! I hope that helps someone, cheers!

With the light on / working, the first test would be the bulb, continuity on the 5w circuit, earth to +. 21w circuit, earth to +, on the bulb.
Bulb checks. Then check contacts in bulb socket, 12v, earth to +, with lights on.
This would have show you 12v to both circuits, need to check the switches. (y)
A simple Multi Meter is a most valuable tool (spend as much as you can afford).
This is a good read. Suzuki GSX-R1000 2007 Manuals | ManualsLib
