The waiting is over. Today I was present at the local dyno shop where both bikes made it in for a completely unbiased shootout on the dyno. Both bike had nearly identical mileage. 294 on one vs 285 on the ZX-14. Both had been heat cycled several times and had oil changes with 10W-40 oil in both. They also both had 100% pump, 93 octane gas and the rear tire pressure was checked and were within 2 psi. Also both had adjusted chains and they were properly lubed. In other words we did everything possible to ensure the test was as fair as possible.

I own the 2008 Busa and the dyno operator/owner of Dyno Masters in Chattanooga Tn. Mark Hromi owned the ZX-14. Our intentions were to test both bikes stock and run them 3-5 pulls each and then pull them off the dyno and install a Power Commander and map each one at 100% on the DJ250I machine using the Tuning link software and then run them both again for HP/Torque.

The Busa power commander (2007 GSXR1000 PC actually) plugged in just fine and all was well but for some reason the 2006 ZX-14 Power Commander caused the ZX-14 not to run at all. So we were unable to map the ZX-14 . And as you see the air fuel curve on it is really rich and no doubt a lot of power is being lost. You can see exactly at the point the air fuel goes rich the power starts to lose its upward slope and it noses over.

So the first graph is the BEST pull from the 14 and the Busa. And the second run is the before and after on the busa after mapping it with the stock exhaust etc.

I know all the Kawi guys are going to cry foul but personally I dont know what else we could have done to make this fair. Same day, same dyno, back to back runs on a great day with pump gas etc. The dyno is a VERY well maintained machine and the numbers on the busa seem to be very close to the others I have seen reported from Dynojet etc when everybody uses SAE reporting not STD. Also both bikes were bought locally off the dealer floor. These were not sent to me from Kawasaki or Suzuki, these are RETAIL bikes.

Discuss !!

The bike is a 2008 ZX-14 as stated in the topic heading. We just used a PC for the 06-07

Day two update. The dyno operator Mark at Dynomasters called me back today and he got the Power commander working. So back to the dyno to map the bike tonight. I did not re run the Busa but here is the graph today with yesterday's 14 data on it too. As you can see the air fuel cleaned up a LOT and the bike gained some HP. He spent over 2 hours mapping the bike to do everything possible to get the most power he could. He also ran it in 4th and 5th gear as someone asked about and it made no difference. So the bike is making more HP but still several short of the Busa even mapped.
We also got another confirmation run today on a different dyno and they too are reporting lower HP on the 2008 ZX-14 compared to the 08 Busa. The dyno reads a little happier than this one but the difference stock for stock was still about 8-9hp. About the same as we saw.
So here is the Dyno of the 14 mapped and notice the Air fuel is now much closer to ideal compared to before.

Problems with your ZX14 Setup -- inaccurate totally!

If you do some searches your setup even compared to last years ZX14 is in error -- appears to be equal in how the bikes are prepped & kudos on your efforts -- the major doubt is the comparison to last years etc & other Dynos that clearly vary by up to 20 hp plus for the ZX14. Folks reading this clearly note the extreme variability -- I have owned 3 Hayabusas & currently own a ZX14 -- this will need other comparisons due to the weak association values -- that ZX14 needs to be serviced:sleep :)

A quote from ricky" believe it or not, there is more left in it. I am not able to open the throttle til the top of 1st gear as it wants to wheelie if you do.

I leave at 3800 to 4000 rpm.

Suzuki wins "HANDS DOWN"!!!! If the cam chain tensioner failed on the 1999 Busa & ate the engine, Suzuki would warranty it................ If it was a Kawasaki ZX-11 that threw #3 rod out the side of the case because of a engineering flaw, they would "NOT DO SHIT" about it, even w/ a warranty!!!!!!!!

That in itself means more than any dyno figure!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Suzuki will always be the king!!!! Kawasaki sucks!!!!!

This guy is a bozo! Look at his dyno graph it speaks for itself. His bike made 63.12 hp and 68.70 ft-lbs of torque before tuning and look how rich the bike was. After tuning, the bike made 72.44 hp and 78.84 ft-lbs of torque (RunFile 010) and look how linear the A/F is. A gain of 9.32 hp and 10.14 ft-lbs of torque.

What is this A-Hole even posting this s### on here for ( a V Star 1300? who cares). Nothing to do with a busa or this comparison rotts did. This info rotts gave was good to know. He is just talking crap on a couple of our brothers. Rotts is well known and has given good info on different forums and I'm sure he works with the best people he can find. cpost your correct, dude5 is a bozo, he did get good results. I would gladly pay that tuner to get over 9 hp and over 10 ft/lbs of torque for me and have linear A/F like that. This post from dude5 should be removed. This guy is trying to bad mouth someone obviously to sell some sort of BOGUS product. Find another place to advertise your crap dude5.:flipoff
