I have trouble that i cant get rid of. HELP:scratch
I have a 2001 1000 motor with a 2002 ECU,harness and speedo.
I checked my pump and it is part # 15100-35F10 as it should be.
THE LOW FUEL LIGHT OF THE SPEEDO WONT COME UP.:hammer
I got the surprise on the highway last week,i have been lucky .I pushed the bike on about 1/8 miles.

I changed the pump (used one,5000 miles)for an other 15100-35F10 and no light either.
The orange fuel light of the speedo comes up when the ignition is at ON so it is not burned.

The fuel level in my tank is very low and i know it should indicate it.

Possibilities:
-fuel pump thermistor ? my 2 fuel pumps would be bad? not sure.
-Bad ECU? my bike runs great.

You agree with me that it cant be the speedo has it is only a led who lights, right ?

So what is the verdict ?

01 and 02 are different that's why

You are lucky that it was only 1/8 mile to the station.... I had to push mine close to three, off the highway, two closed gas stations... oh thank heaven for 7-11... best slurpee EVER!!

As for the tank light, the pump might be different, try swapping just the thermaresistor. One thing it could also be is the LED for the gague cluster could be out or have a bad connection..

01 and 02 are different that's why

yup but i got the 2002 ecu,speedo and wiring harness so........
it is the same pump.

I had the 2 wiring harness in hand and the 3 wires for the pump had the same colors.
Forget about the motor as it is an electrical problem.

Yeah i ve been very lucky.
My pump part # match 2001 -2002 1K, i looked at ronayers.com

The orange led lights up when the ignition is ON so it works..

one 2001 and the other 2002

but both pumps have the same part # 15100-35F10
i checked on ronayers.com and it is the right part #

I know the guages are exactly the same for the two models

If the wiring harnes and ecu are from the 02, I guess you have me stumped to why its not working

I guess you'd have to get a service manual and diagnose it from what is says

I m working on the manual.
It cant be the ECU,the bike is running perfectly.The chip controlling the Fuel light would be toasted.......... impossible.The ECU would be dead.

And my conclusion is like yours, WHY ?????

I will check the thermistor in the pump or may try an other ECU just in case...

NO, time to get a third pump or buy a new low fuel level thermistor(sensor).:wait
