Hey guys I’ve got a 1993 Katana 750. Bike runs great but I hear a noise that I think is the timing chain. I don’t think I can replace the timing chain due to time and possibly special tools I’m sure. Question is I can get a 1998 motor for fairly cheap. Will it swap right in or is that going to be a huge process too?

Can you post a video of the noise?
There are some very good wrenches here who can diagnose your problem..

theres an auto chain adjuster on these bikes, sometimes they get stuck. pull it off and reset the tension. at the same time you can look at the chain through the hole to inspect it, or take the valve cover off to get a better look at the chain and the guides/sliders
