Hello,

New to the forum here and would like to ask for advice.

I´ve been offered a 1990 GSXR1100, original bike, looks good but has 60000 miles on it and no service history.

Assuming that it has been serviced properly in the past would this milage be ok, or is it getting close to major engine/gearbox work?

That's high'ish mileage, but could be ok if the oil was changed often and it wasn't flogged the whole time. Maybe have a mechanic take a look and do a compression test to have a better idea of how the rings and valves are sealing.

like everything, price is a big factor. if you are serious, and cannot do most of your own work, then pay to have a mechanic look through it.

my bikes are regularly maintained, but i don't have any service records, because i do the work myself.

either way, 60K miles isn't too bad, if it has been raced or abused.
