Hello I'm thinking about loosing a tooth on the front sprocket to give me a bit more low end. My beast has alot now but I would like to have a little more. what is the stocker size? and where can I get one for cheap? does anyone have anything to add? any experiences ideas or suggestions would be apprecieated.

stock is 14/47, in a 532. i'd double check to make sure exactly what pitch the chain and sprockets are (a lot of owners switch to 530's or even smaller).

i wouldn't recommend dropping any more teeth on the front sprocket, as the rate of wear will go way up.....go up on the rear instead.

gearing is a personal choice, though, so feel free to experiment. get a hard anodized aluminum rear sprocket (like a sprocket specialists titan tough), or a steel one.

if there are quite a number of miles on the chain and sprockets, you might want to replace them all as a set, as they tend to 'wear into' each other, and replacing just one by itself might accelerate wear.

Jeff thanks again! I have to say it again. You Da-man. I'm a real rookie to this. I have never really turned a wrench in my life except on my BMX bikes as a kid. But with your help I'm really getting comfortable doing minor repairs to my machine! I will take your advice I will change the rear. However I will get a rear stand first. Thanks again!
