Just completed mine,

used the OMR performance mid pipe.. Mitchell was awesome to deal with and the pipe was made & shipped within a week it was on my desk in NZ, and he threw in a free tshirt.

i ended up just using a hacksaw and got through it alright, right on the weld. broke 1 blade (used hacksaw upside down, with blade facing the ground) :biggrin

then i just used a grinder with a 60 grit disk and got it nice and smooth.

the OMR mid pipe is beautifully made..

then matched up with my 08/09 slip on R55 Yoshimura R55

initial thoughts.. no silencer installed (compared to cat + yoshi r55)

start up & idle is ALOT louder, started easy idles normal..

take off there is some hesitation due to no mapping yet till about 3-4,000 rpm which is really low anyway just takes a bit more clutch to get moving.

sounds great, quite loud as its been almost a year since ive ridden a bike with no cat.. no major pop on decel only 1 or so not as some others have described, possibly im lucky with not doing pair mod yet?

power delivery is quite smooth, its hard to gauge power increase due to the added noise, it does seem a bit more eager in parts, but i feel it could do with a tune for sure.. it runs a bit 'flat' here and there, it is only a 600 and im not expecting a huge gain but i think the tune will make a night & day difference hopefully.

now to decide what route to go on a tune, there is a local tuner who can do the Teka SFI-2 tune to the oem ECU or ill consider the PCV and just load a map for now due to xmas plans tightening the funds up.

Hey man nice mod that looks really good, i have a k8 750 with the same r55 slip on and i am trying to decide if i should cut the cat and put a mid pipe like you did.
just a question, how loud is it? is it a nice loud or annoying loud lol.
reason i ask is my last bike was a k6 600 with a two brothers slip on and that thing was to much, i met half the cops in the city because of that thing

did you tune it yet?, how much does that cost roughly?

a k6-k7 slip on is designed to work without a cat and a k8+ slip on is designed to work with one
so my question is if i chop the cat and use a mid pipe with a k8 slip would it be louder than the same style exhaust if i used a k6-k7 slip on ? if so how much louder?

and if im right then im assuming this is where a silencer comes into play? should i or how do i incorporate one into this mid pipe business

it will be as loud as your 2 bros slip on was on your 07.. its rediculous and annoying thats why i sold it and went with the longer TRC which is now perfect.

the 06/07 yoshimura R55 has an extra canister which does quieten it down a tad more but from what ive heard its still way louder than just a long muffler, ie TRC or R77

thats for the info Oncam and driver. I just did the cat hack and still have stock pipe on my k8 600 and wqas going to ask about noise with a r55 vs. a r77 but now i think i will go with the full length slip on over a shorty!!

If so then they should fit 2008-2010 600/750s.

I bought a 600 2008 and it came with the FULL exhaust. I am looking at actually reverting back to the stock exhaust. Any suggestions?

Thanks to this thread I finally got mine done with the help of a fellow rider and excellent metal worker. He even made a custom bracket that looks really cool. I'll get some pics and post it up later!! Finally I can mount up my track fairings.

I tried cutting the cat off but i didnt have enough room for my 06/07 akrapovic slip-on to hold on tight. So i just went and found a great condition 06/07 header on ebay for like 80 bucks...mounts up perfectly. I almost bought the full akrapovic too...thank god i saw this

Anybody play around with a PCV? I just did the cat hack, k&n filter and installed PCV. Directions say to plug off O2 sensor wires so it's just filling up space. Would it help to leave the o2 plugged up to the ecu? Slight popping at low idle 2-4k rpm. Not sure if O2 sensor would fix. Plug n play?

O2 sensor gets disconnected and plugged with the piece that comes w/ the pc.
Look into the pair mod. I hear it helps. I had to do the mod per autotune instructions.

Has anybody confirmed if 06/7 aftermarket FULL exhausts bolt up to the 08/9?!? I really want a sato full exhaust but they only make em for 06/7.

This is my custom "CAT hack" and after pipe. Its not perfect, but i built it in a pinch with a shortened two bros can and some scrap i had laying around to use until i had enough for a full system. im getting a full system in a week or so and back to the scrap pile she goes lol :cheers

fun project. could've made it nicer but it was just to get me by lol
