Man, people want stuff handed to them on a platter these days. Damn. Just...damn. :wait
I finally got round to doing the mod about three weeks ago and it has transformed my K6 from a jerky embarrasment off the lights, to the bike Suzuki should have produced.
Anyone living with the clutch judder should do the mod ASAP to enjoy the bike you paid for
Cheers Jetspeedz.
I'm sorry, I really really am.....but i'd hate to read through 13 pages.....

have ppl been taking this to a dealer/mechanic to get done? or themselves?

I downloaded the PDF but i don't recalling it giving you a list of tools/parts you need.
maybe you should READ... the first page tells you the parts and tools... why are people so lazy .....

Well then, work while you're getting paid to work and read the info people have taken their time to post when you have free time. No one is here to spoon feed this to you.
Apologies, my work laptop seems to have some sort of issue with opening this adobe file. its lines and blurred at the top of the first section

I've opened it here at home and it has the parts list with tools etc.. .at the very top of it.
Great tutorial Jet. Most appreciated.

After reading the .pdf and all the posts I decided to incorporate this mod to my new clutch. Over 33,000 hard fat kid, miles finally yielded some worn clutch bits. New steels/fibers and springs for good measure in addition to the updated washer. Between those changes and riding my ZX10 dedicated for 2 weeks I'm very impressed by the new feeling.
does anyone know a good motorbike mechanic in melbourne - australia who will do this mod on an 01 gsxr1000?

This mod is for a K5/K6. There is another mod for K1-K4 which looks easier to do. If you don't want to do it yourself, any dealer mechanic or other could quite easily do it, it's pretty much the same as replacing clutch plates, which they do all the time. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=140539
thanks ben, doesnt look so hard with the 01, just have to replace the wave washer and seat with a kawasaki clutch cushion. might have a crack myself.
Done this mod last weekend, worked a treat
love it :)

hopefully it lasts

Don't worry, it'll last, mine's been sweet ever since.

thanks for posting this fix, got real bad after 5k miles, put 30k miles on the bike dealing with it, after this simple fix I know what a holeshot is once again....
Server is down at savefile.com, I just got a new K5 1000, does anyone have the pdf they could email to me? [email protected]
This site rocks!
Thanks in advance!

I dont know if anyone has mentioned this yet but suzuki, (at least at my dealer) has upgraded the 2k5-2k6 1000 washer part # to corrolate with the 750 washer part # posted here, they are both the same #s now..

its an extremely simple fix, 1 clutch cover gasket, 1 conical washer...

remove clutch cover, remove pack, replace conical washer that sits on the basket noting its direction, (its tapered, I believe the smaller diameter faces out?) I replaced the flat washer the conical rests on just for fun.. fit new gasket, torque bolts, done..

some say drill the basket, I didn't and I can launch with the best of em...

once you get to the dealer just look at the microfiche, it will all make sense... conical washer that sits on a flat washer against the basket, the clutch pack rests on the conical...

WELL worth the trouble, and yes, hats off to gixxer.com as when the issue first reared its head in early 05 I brought it in to service for a fix, obviously the head scratching wasn't it...
