Gee,there are a few testy Gixxer poster's :biggrin

Probably due to a lack of pics, the main problem i found was i don't actually have a GSXR1000 (The closest i got to having a inline 4 was my Nissan Station wagon :lol )

But for those who like pic's,here is a updated version of a 06 GSXR1000 clutch i removed from the drive then modded to fit a TL1000S drive gear.
It bolted back in like OEM.
Some light viewing until the thread goes back on track.

Pics here

Just had the mod 'partly' done, the spring washer changed out. While no doubt the holes help additional, I can say that the improvement is awsome with just he changed spring washer :cheers

It seems that this isn't seen as a warranty issue in the states, any one from Australia, go and get it done, its covered. I was getting 6000km service done and mentioned it, that said they new about it and would fix it then and there which was good.

I also mentioned the drilling of holes, they had heard about that also but said that while had done before it wasn't really necessary and not 'normally' done.

Damn I have still yet to do this...Yeah I know I really slacked.
I got the parts, I'll probably just change out the washer too and let her ride.
You reminded me how great this mod is. I did the washer and the oil ports. Since you are in Wisconsin, take the space heater out in the garage and make use of the off-season. You will be thankful in the Spring.

When I re-adjusted the three lifter adjuster pins, I still got three threads showing after tightening them down, then backing them out 2-1/4 turns. Just my $.02.

This mod was painfully simple. Even after drilling the holes, it only took me maybe all of 20 minutes to get the metal shavings out with a water hose and then dry it with an air compressor. It was very easy.

If you are worried about oil delivery to the now dry fly wheel and clutch basket (though it will get plenty a few seconds after the engine turns over), you can apply some oil here and there with a small hand-held oil gun if you want (like to the fly-wheel teeth/oil pump drive gear). But that is not necessary.

If there is anyone in my area who wants this done, I would be more than happy to come help... But I won't do it ALL for you...

As a point of interest, I had a drill press at my disposal. This made the drilling very easy and I would recommend the use of one if you have access to one. Next, buy a cheap magnet tool. It makes getting out the flywheel bearing assemly very easy. And despite the manual saying you need to remove the clutch push rod for clutch disassembly, you don't need to do that for this mod. Just leave it in the main shaft. Also, the gratuitous use of cheap generic brand sandwich bags made organizing the parts easy--as well as keeping them engine-sanitary and debris free. Sand in the crank case would be bad.
