Larsen - you may be right but i didnt experience this and it may be b/c i left the oil sitting in the bike for a day before i started it up but thanks for the heads up...

njfinests - this isnt something the dealer will fix under warranty, its a mod we do to improve the bike... if you like the way your clutch feels more power to you but since you said it yourself there is downtime b/c of the weather you might as well do it...

Stocky - thanks but none of this would have been possible if people like yourself don't take the time to disect things and try to improve them and i noticed mine had 3 reaction springs but your right it should be noted some come with 2.

Wayne - its pretty easy to do the hardest part is just getting rid of all the shavings. good luck

Aw man, I just changed my oil today. Next oil change I am for sure doing this mod. Some times when I launch hard I get a weird grinding noise from the clutch for like half a second. Think this will cure it?
Sounds like this is the fix for your problem that others have reported... getting the part if its not on back order will take a while so you might as well order it now:cheers

first, i would like to offer a compliment on the great job you did to lay out the procedure so clearly.

second, i don't understand why everyone is talking about and/or doing this mod. my '05's clutch works great and it's never been touched. is this problem only on some bikes? does this mod improve performance, and if so how does it work different or better?
This is something that has been discussed in the past and some people have not felt anything was wrong with their clutch so you may be one of those people who is satisfied and has not noticed any chatter which is fine but for the people like goebeld and others this will fix the issue. If you do a search on the clutch mod you will see many threads on this issue but since its such a cheap mod to do its worth doing if you changing the oil anyway:thumbup

dflowers glad it worked out for you.. if you want an even softer pull you can always go with the hydraulic setup, i have the brembo 16x18 on mine and it works with one finger :)

Mike like others reported that is usually stops after the first ride.. I just hope the dealer when putting it back together made sure the oil pump gear was fully engaged if not then you could have a broken oil pump gear... so if the problem does not go away take it apart and check

Did the clutch mod on my k6 thou, it coincided with installing a new set of drive and driven plates after cooking it, my only problem is this, the write up suggests the slipper clutch adjusting bolts should have 2 threads showing after 2 and 1/4 turns out, mine show 3 threads which basically measures as near as dam it to standard. The slipper action does not seem as good as it was before the mod, there is a slight rear wheel locking before slipping occurs. Is the 2 and 1/4 setting the optimum setting or can it be tweeked to give a different slipper action depending on rider preference?
the more you screw in the lifter pins the more it will slip so you can adjust it till you feel its right for you.. in the DIY it states the same thing... :cheers

Kaz thanks for posting that.. i ordered a set from Jim just didnt get it in time... ill be putting them in next time i take it apart...

sucks for WOTGixxer.. i personally like the stock spring feel and wouldnt really change it unless it was for drag purposes...

grtfast - if you experience any chatter this will fix it and its usually on launches so it may be the same thing your experiencing...

Kaz it makes perfect sense, the lifters to me are more of a fine tune for slip vs a big difference of running the Yosh reaction springs for a more drastic change... i suppose if you want more slip take one the 3 oem springs out but i can't see myself doing that running this much HP... or run 2 of the oem springs and one of the 150N Yosh springs to see if you get the slip your after... seems like its got a lot to do with rider preference...
