1979 XT500, purchased from original owner in July 2012. She is inspected, insured, and received her antique license plate in June 2014. I did a partial restoration on her, which included: Repainted the tank and rear fender, new brakes, chain, sprockets, tires, added luggage rack, rear shocks, rebuild front forks, seat, powder coated the exhaust and skid-plate, Twin Feed Cam Oiler, and did a proper engine tuneup. I also installed a new Mikuni TM-36 carb, which eliminated the rough engine idling, hot-start issues I used to have, and added lots of engine torque and throttle response. She does drive great now, has lots of power, and does not smoke or burn any oil. I invested, besides the original purchase cost of $2,100.00, approximately $3,200.00 and about 80 personal shop hours into her cosmetic / mechanical restoration.
