  1. 1988 GSX1100 CARB SWAP?

    Oil Cooled Gixxers
first off, none of the GSXR's had round-slide carbs. but to answer your question, yes GSXR carbs would work on a Katana, given they're essentially the same motor. why would you want to get them in the first place if yours are intact and work? you are going to have to properly sync whatever set...
  2. 1986 GSXR 750 Can't Figure Out What is Wrong

    Oil Cooled Gixxers
....only if its for a set of carbs that were meant for the bike and have been rebuilt and are in known working order, other than sitting for a while. otherwise it can be MANY things, ask me how I know.
  3. 1986 GSXR 750 Can't Figure Out What is Wrong

    Oil Cooled Gixxers
can't help with flatslides as Ive never owned a set, but I believe baseline jetting is on their website, or you can give them a call
  4. 1986 GSXR 750 Can't Figure Out What is Wrong

    Oil Cooled Gixxers
no you don't, they are indeed easier to tune and simpler, but they won't give you a huge boost in power. also the throttle pull will be much heavier and the power much more snappy
  5. 1986 GSXR 750 Can't Figure Out What is Wrong

    Oil Cooled Gixxers
are you sure they are 31mm carbs? measure the venturi's just to make sure, apparently '86 GSXR 750's did in fact come with 31mm carbs however both of mine that I've owned had 34mm carbs on them. however the case, use this as a jetting guide for OEM settings...
  6. 1986 GSXR 750 Can't Figure Out What is Wrong

    Oil Cooled Gixxers
first off, you have the hose that operates the diaphragm on the petcock open in these videos, thus creating a huge vacuum leak. also the fuel line is not in a constant downward slope, remember that this fuel system is gravity-fed, so the carb banks are probably starving for fuel. what kind of...
  7. Front end conversion on 1988 750 Slingshot

    Oil Cooled Gixxers
you can make just about any front end you want work on these bikes, just depends how much work you're willing to put in. Use this link: https://www.gixxer.com/threads/88-92-750-and-89-92-1100-parts-interchange-info.188068/ you can find all the info you need in regards to front end dimensions and...
  8. B12 engine build

    Oil Cooled Gixxers
did some reading on the website, went to this thread: https://www.gixxer.com/threads/1216-head-flow-for-road-racing.289170/#post-4942741 lots of useful info. basically running larger carbs or even larger intake boots on a dot head is out of the question. but some people have made pretty decent...
  9. Will 91-750-Katana carbs work on a 91-750-GSXR?

    Oil Cooled Gixxers
they might work, would need to re-jet them. '91 GSXR 750's run 38mm carbs so the katana's 36mm slingshots will slide right in, might need to clamp down the boots quite a bit. why would you want these on that bike though? they will bottleneck airflow, unless you're just trying to get it running
  10. B12 engine build

    Oil Cooled Gixxers
    ah ok gotcha
  11. B12 engine build

    Oil Cooled Gixxers
what would be the point of getting larger valves but not opening up the seats/ports? If I go that route I'll do everything at once and buy different carb boots to run 38 or 40mm carbs and port the head to match. I do plan on running slingshot cams in it, and I'll only do the 1216 with 'busa...
  12. B12 engine build

    Oil Cooled Gixxers
stock intake valve sizes on these motors are 28.5mm in diameter. doing some quick math, both intake valves combined have an area of 1275.88mm^2. even with 40mm carbs and intake ports, cross sectional area of the port entrance would be 1256.64mm^s. I know that there are many other factors in...
  13. Dyna 2000 question

    Oil Cooled Gixxers
I replaced the module with a new one, a similar problem occurred with the bike randomly cutting off and not wanting to start. I traced it back to the red power wire from the coil to the module, it was getting pinched between the wire harness and frame under the gas tank and grounding itself out...
  14. B12 engine build

    Oil Cooled Gixxers
1st-gen B12 engine? Or one thats been modded to the same degree as what I'm planning?
  15. Carbs and muffler

    Oil Cooled Gixxers
just leave it the way it is, its a super clean bike and all original.... why do you think it needs new carbs? just have them cleaned and rebuilt with all new gaskets/o-rings/seals going aftermarket exhaust and opening up the intake side isn't even worth the fuss of rejetting the bike for the...
  16. Gsxr 1100 black box help

    Oil Cooled Gixxers
it was the opposite when I did mine, the 750 had two and the 1100 had one. but I used the 750 box. do you not have the rotor assembly to pair with the CDI? your best bet is to use the 750 ignition setup on the 1100
  17. Dyna 2000 question

    Oil Cooled Gixxers
This brings up another question. To everyone who's currently running this with dyna coils, do you have the red wire piggy-backed to only one of the coils or both? I know the orange/white wire going to each of the coils supply them with power, but the coil that is not piggy-backed with the red...
  18. Dyna 2000 question

    Oil Cooled Gixxers
It has not, module still gets power and still lights up when the magnet passes over each of the pickups. There’s no voltage jump on the white or blue wires going to the coils when the happens
  19. Dyna 2000 question

    Oil Cooled Gixxers
My bike ran perfectly fine 4 weeks ago. Went to start it today, not even a single fire. Come to find that there's absolutely no spark on all spark plugs. Further investigation shows that the "trigger" wires (white for coil 1, blue for coil 2) show no voltage jump as the motor is turned over...
  20. 1052 Engine build

    Oil Cooled Gixxers
could just double up on base gaskets, measure the thickness of the used one, multiply it by 2 and do some math to figure out your new CR. theres lots of calculators on the web that are very helpful for this :thumbup
