New ecu , do I have to program ?

I have to buy new ecu for my bike , can I just buy the ecu and put on my bike or do I have to program it or buy it with ignition ?

I think only European bikes have the immobilizer in the key that is coded to the ECU? If it's US it shouldn't matter.
