Sprocket change 600 gearing on a 750

Sup guys, looking for so info/input going from 17/45 to 16/43 (600 gearing) for wheelies. First off, does it affect top speed and most importantly am I going to have to tweak my speedo? From what I’ve heard on most sport bikes the mph and odo gets all wacky. Where’s the location of the speed sensor as well. Thanks!

Your speedometer from the factory is off by 8-12% whereas the odometer by law must be accurate. You go messing with gearing, you are furthering the error of speedometer. Now, I have to ask, why are you going from 17/45 to 16/43 for wheelies? Are you having issues keeping the front down? If you are trying to make it easier to wheelie, you are going the wrong way. Look at stunt motorcycles and notice the diner plate rear sprockets. Even going -1/+2 makes it easier to lift the front end.

Oh right I should be going down one up two so 16/47. I want more torque so I don’t have to rev it up so high when I pop the clutch.

Yes, your top speed will be lower but hopefully you aren't spending too much time topped out on the street. Another thing to consider is that your bike will be revving higher at your normal highway speeds. That may or may not bother you depending upon your age and how much or how little squid you still have left in you. And trust me, we all still have some squid left inside.

You can buy a speed correcting thingy from one of the usual brands for fairly cheap money once you change your sprockets. I use the speedodrd from motomummy.

I'd rather ride and control an Analog bike than ride and be controlled by a Digital one.
