Re: 2008 Suzuki GSR600

Can't say I recognize it, but then again I'm not very familiar with much of what's inside the engine, especially of GSRs. I had a look through a K7 750 manual I had at hand, for similar-looking parts in the engine chapter, but didn't find anything relevant. Is anything noticeably wrong with the bike, such as overheating, or not shifting, etc.? That might help making an educated guess.

Re: 2008 Suzuki GSR600

Thankyou dpapavas for your swift reply. I have to say the bike seems to run perfectly well. My fear is its a part from around the cam chain restaining bolt or tensioner. To establish this the bike would a much more thorough investigation. As it stands im still none the wiser to what it is.

Maybe it was used as a lever to install or move something, it looks kinda rusty and broken. It's not a magnet right? Probably somebody left it in there on accident which would make me question the quality of the work that was done anyway. I guess keep running the bike.

Re: 2008 Suzuki GSR600

Does the part look broken on one end? It's hard to be sure from the photo. It looks like some sort of shaft, but the finish of the surface is pretty rough, which makes it not look like an engine part. I don't think that could have come from the cam chain/tightener assembly at any rate, not if it's anything like the one on the GSXRs which is probably the case. 2017Dave's theory sounds plausible, especially since the bike seems to be running fine.

Re: 2008 Suzuki GSR600

I will establish if it is magnetic. in the meantime Im happier that it isnt a part of the engine that is working its way loose while im riding along the A3 or M3 at 69.9 mph..!

I thought you were talking about the little piece at the end, that you fished out with a magnetic retriever. You mean the tool was in there too???

Your not being very clear. Its hard to help you. It does looks like a magnetic retriever with a bit of metal on the end. And it clearly is not fully captured by the photo. I assume that if you retrieved it with needle nose pliers- you would not have a magnet in the picture. We cant see how big it is. Maybe put a quarter in the picture for some scale reference or a ruler. Is this thing one single piece of metal?
