Re: Irish Gixxer

Well STMB.
I'm on the bumble bee colours. From over the northside, Artane Beaumont area. The Blue Light ? Never even heard of it to be honest. Bike is currently out of action as well after a bit of a run in with the side door of a Merc ! Waiting on parts from E-bay though so should be fixed up soon enough. Just in time for the weather !

Re: Irish Gixxer

Bad luck on connectin with that Merc, I bounced mine of a Hyundai and did 2,500 damage to a 2,000 car but they wouldnt write it off. I was lucky to stay on the bike though so only damaged the stator/engine cover. 80 quid from the uk and i was rolling again but ruled out overtaking on t junctions as part of my riding tactics,

The blue light is a bike pub up the mountains this direction. Im sure youll come accross it son enough.
So have you been riding long? 04 must have cost a pretty penny.

Re: Irish Gixxer

Managed to break a bone in my foot as well which I only realised a few hours after the crash when my foot was the size of a football ! I've now decided to keep well away from cars when there's a right turn on the road, whether they have their indicators on or not !

Must take a gander out to that boozer so. Riding for about a year and a half now, started out on a bandit 250 and after a year of that decided it was time to move onwards and upwards. Was going to go second hand but then decided f*ck it I might as well go hell for leather, get a loan and go new.

If I had the chance, I'd be there in a heartbeat! It seems that Intel Ireland has a handle on their equipment though.
NY and VA? That's on the wrong side of the U.S.! You going out there for vacation or work?

Sorry bout Hi JAcking your thread Binox

Sounds like you did the exact thing I did on the ol right hand turn t junction. Glad it wasnt a merc i pranged off, id say it was a merc would be a bit more solid than the accent i bounced off.

Re: Irish Gixxer

I just put my hand up and said it was my bad.
then when filliing out the accident report forms made it a bit more of a 50/50 kinda thing. The insurance company paid out allright and fixed up her car and for some reason 4 months later when i was looking to get another years quote from them they still gave me the full no claims discount.

Re: Irish Gixxer

Ha, got to be happy with that !
So they paid for fixing you bike as well ? you're on fully comp then ? I'm 3rd party only so any money I can get off them towards the bike and helmet is needed.

Re: Irish Gixxer

Im only on 3rd party aswell. I was lucky when i hit the car that i didnt go down, kinda bounced of it and skidded to a halt about 5 to 10 meters down the road,
I didnt think there was any damage done to the bike when i had a look over it but as i was riding home my foot slipped of the pegs and when i looked down my boot was covered in oil coming out of the stator cover ( engine cover left hand side ) Toped her up with oil and rode home gingerly. I ordered a new cover from the uk 90 quid ( suzuki here wanted 200 ) and put it on myself. Never buy any bike shit over here man, UK is so much cheaper.
I just saved 100 quid ordering new tyres from the UK.

Re: Irish Gixxer

Cheers for the tip. I've bought a few of the parts needed for fairly cheap off Ebay. I'm actually looking for the engine cover for the leftside as well. Mine is knocked up pretty bad but it's not leaking. Where did you order it from ?

Re: Irish Gixxer

Hi, Just been reading the thread and was wondering, is the insurance quite high in Ireland? I once read it was loads more than over here in England!
Always wanted to visit Ireland as I have part of my family tree going back to Dublin.
Cheers

Re: Irish Gixxer

Hey Big Lad. Yeah, the insurance is pretty bad over here alright. There are only two companys that do motorbike insurance over here so they can pretty much charge what they want and you don't have much of a choice. Put it this way, I'm on 3rd party only insurance and when I asked what fully comp. was for the laugh I nearly choked. It would have nearly been cheaper for me to buy a new bike every year !
Although STMB, I've heard a rumour that Axa are going to do motorbike insurance now as well, do you know if there's any truth to that ???
Any idea what part of Dublin your family come from Big Lad ?
