Smile Blue wheel paint rubbing off

My 2018 white with blue wheels, 5 weeks old now, is giving up a little of the blue wheel paint after I give them a bit of cleaning.

I used some Rejex brand polymer sealant wax alternative in the hopes of sealing the paint a bit.
Is it "normal" for the wheel paint to rub off a little when new?
I'd hate to lose the gloss, I like shiney things .

Take it to the dealer and say you want new wheels. Thatís not normal.

Re: Blue wheel paint rubbing off

That is shithouse ... take it straight back to where you bought it from.

Have you used any heavy wheel cleaners or degreasers on them ??

What chemicals have you used on them?

Re: Blue wheel paint rubbing off

The only chemicals gotten on them have been the solvents from my chain lube - DuPont Teflon chain saver on the rear wheel only and a little bit of WD 40 on both . Also the Rejex polymer .
Never seen this from these products on my other bikes.
The blue wheels LOOK fine, but got a bit of blue residue on the app rags.

I'm going to give them a good rub out with another coat of the polymer and see what happens.

Thanks for the replys !

Re: Blue wheel paint rubbing off

The blue shouldnít come off at all ... you must have used something too aggressive to clean them.

It softens the paint and of course will remove it.

Iv seen these so many times , I own and run detail shops

If itís happening to you also (and you are cleaning correctly)then itís a manufacturers fault , and should be brought to the attention of the dealer you purchased it from.

Dealer I bought it from is 3.5 hours away. Could I go to any local dealer?

FYI front comes off more than rear. Finish that is.

I would imagine the dealer you dealt with for purchase will help more ... Suzuki may have a recall on their hands.

How long have you had your bike, and if you have had it a while, does it still hold the gloss OK or has it deteriorated ??

Thanks

Re: Blue wheel paint rubbing off

I have the same issue with my 2017 GSXR-1000 mine are red though. I presumed it was normal but it comes off even when just wiping it down with an old t-shirt and water.

Re: Blue wheel paint rubbing off

That is absolutely NEVER normal, and is indicative of shitty paint. To get paint come off like that requires some serious degreaser

Shitty paint. If you rub it harder with dry rug it will leave paint marks on the rug

@Karns Performance can probably speak on this as he is active in the forums AND a Suzuki dealer with good connections with Suzuki reps

+1 ^ WTF is going on people that's like saying oh the fork seals are leaking but they still seem to work I thought it might be normal. Obviously its not that serious but you paid good money make them make good on their product.
