helmet and gear for girlfriend

Ladies - Can anyone help me choose a helmet for my gf?

I'm looking for something comfy and light. Also considering either an open face or a full helmet since she wears makeup. Leaning towards a full face helmet for added safety, but I'll need one with a removable lining so it can be washed.

also - any tips on how a girl should put on a helmet? pony tail?

Take her so she can try on the helmet and get a proper fit. I would never recommend anything except a full face helmet and most if not all helmets have removable liners these days. I've stopped wearing makeup when I go riding because it ends up on the inside of my helmet anyway.

She will have to experiment about what works best for her regarding her hair. I do recommend a helmet liner to keep the hair nicer and the helmet cleaner. Also, it keeps the helmet liner from snagging stud earrings which can be painful.

For hair issues, have her look at this thread:

I know there is a thread here about it as well but I don't feel like searching for it.

Re: helmet and gear for girlfriend

Full face is more protective, has more choices, and is better looking (in my opinion). I use a Buff to pull up over my head and cheeks. I give my hair a twist before pulling it up over my hair. Keeps the makeup off the helmet, the hair tamed, and bugs off my neck. I then carry a small hat to wear when I'm not going to work. I get a headache from a ponytail, unless it's low on the neck.

So far as comfort, she needs to go try one on and wear it for 15 minutes or so. See if there are pressure points. Different helmets have different shapes.

I like this one in black/blue.
It's got removable cheek pads.
