Wedding band and engagement ring question...

Alright, so my fiance and I are a bit confused about this, and I figure at least a few of you ladies will have some insight on this subject.

When wearing the wedding band and engagement ring, which one goes on the finger first? (something we need to know by sept. 26)

Thank ya!

Its personal preference.

But most put the wedding band first, than the engagement band second.

Re: Wedding band and engagement ring question...

I know I am not female and do not have to worry about this since I only have a single ring but...my wife on the other hand had the same question when we got married. She was told the wedding band goes on first, then the engagement ring. Personally, I thought it was kind of awkward looking so I went out and bought a second matching wedding band so now she has the engagement ring sandwiched between two wedding bands... It looks 100% better so if it doesn't set you back too much, that's another option...

Re: Wedding band and engagement ring question...

wedding band goes first as it's closer to your heart. That is what was explained to my fiance and I when we were band shopping a week or so ago. HTH

The wedding band goes on first because you never take it off once it goes on (supposedly). Most women put the engagement ring on their other hand during the ceremony & put it back on after the ceremony. We've had a jewelry store for many years or else I wouldn't know either

Re: Wedding band and engagement ring question...

Yeah, the wedding band is supposed to go first . . . however, my engagement ring is a heart - which is supposed to be viewed correctly by others . . . so it has to go on first, then my wedding band. I hardly wear my engagement ring for the most part now, because I deal with horses & don't want to get the diamond knocked out. However, my wedding band has never been off me (even putting the engagement on) I connect my two ring fingers & slide it between so its always on

You are supposed to wear the wedding band closer to your heart. However, I wear my engagement ring closer to my heart b/c the design of the both look better that way - plus my engagement ring is a tad bit larger than the wedding band. At the end, all personal preference.

What all the ladies said- totally personal preference, even if there is a "tradition".

Thanks everybody! We've both come to the conclusion that it looks better with the band going on after the engagement ring.

Re: Wedding band and engagement ring question...

wedder is always on first so you can remove your engagement ring without ever needing to remove the wedder.

This means you can wear gloves more easily
...like when you're doing the dishes :P *runs*
