Relocated to Wisconsin

Hello all. Like the thread says I've just relocated to Wisconsin and looking for some information on the track riding scene. I'm in the Tomah/Sparta/La Crosse area. After some initial snooping I found 2 tracks within about 3.5 hrs, Blackhawk Farms and obviously Road America (Elkhart Lake to the old timers). Autobahn Country Club in Illinois is 5.5 hrs away and lastly there's Gingerman Raceway at 7 hrs and Gratten Raceway at 8.5 hrs, both in Michigan.

Anyone rode these tracks? Which trackday companies hold days here, and what kind of prices? Do the tracks themselves offer memberships, or is it basically trackdays only? Anything to know in particular about trackdays up this way? I have a k8 600 as my track bike, all stock components except for some EBC front rotors and pads, M4 slip-on exhaust and track plastics. At my pace that's all I need. Nothing is safety wired because it wasnt necessary with the two companies I rode with at my pace. I've ridden with Texas Motorcycle Academy at Harris Hill in San Marcos TX that's run by Craig Gleason (awesome guys). I've also ridden with RideSmart where I was recently promoted to level 2.
Anyone familiar with either of these?

I found a website, https://www.sportbiketrackguide.com/events-calendar/ , that seems like they can answer a lot of these questions and I'm going to scour it, but I've run across a lot of sites that are way out of date during previous searches so I'd figured I'd ask on the forums too.

Thx for any help.

Teach me brethren, for I am un-learned!

Re: Relocated to Wisconsin

Autobahn is worth the trip if you get into one of the 3 day weekends. It's a little over 5 hours for me. South loop one day, North loop on day 2, and day 3 is full track. Learn both, then combine at speed. Looked like you can camp in the paddock, so shenanigans are probably going on. I've wanted to go to both of the others, but it's 8-7 hours for me.

Your track weapon is perfect. A fully stock bike is very capable on the track. When she starts chattering through the corners, you can start looking at suspension. I will say, a good front mastercylinder is a good spend. It's not just about performance. A good MC can save you a lot of fatigue in your right forearm and hand. Makes for a much more pleasurable day. Add some stainless lines and you're good to go. Good brakes are a must!

They used to call Gratten Raceway "Rotten Gratten". Not sure if it ever got resurfaced. Same friend who told me that says Gingerman is fun, especially if they run it reverse direction. They just renamed Gateway just east of St. Louis to something else, but it's about 6.5 from you. MCRA races there, and I've heard it's fun too.

Thanks for the reply. I just looked it up and Gateway Motorsports Park in Madison Illinois is 7hrs away, as is Raceway Park of the Midlands in Pacific Junction, Iowa.

I actually have a set of steel braided lines, some of the aftermarket clip-ons, and a brake lever guard that I got almost free off my parts guy. I just haven't put them on yet.

I have never been there but I have buddies in Illinois that say Blackhawk Farms is a blast.
