Jason @ STG

Okay, this will be my 2nd review. My first was about some purchases with motomummy that I ended up getting corrected on due to my "glaring misconceptions". If anyone else would like to correct me here, have at it. I'm just trying to support our vendors and give my feedback.

I was looking for another helmet so I figured Jason at STG was the man to turn to.
I sent him a PM basically letting him make my decision. I was debating between the Scorpion EXO 1000, which was on closeout for $99 and the Bell RS-1 (born free). He replied back saying the RS-1 was 10x better so it was an easy decision.
I called him to place my order and got his voicemail, he was probably on the other line so I sent him an email. We corresponded via email and I called to place the order. One of my concerns was sizing. My KBC medium is too big, my HJC medium is about right but neither are that great. I measured my head at 22 1/8" which is on the smaller side of a medium, I was torn between a Small & Medium. Jason suggested a Medium because he said the RS-1 runs a little snug. He told me that I could wear it, not ride in it, to try the size and if I didn't like it I could exchange it. IMO that's a top notch offer when you are trying to buy gear online.
I ordered it on 9/11, what better helmet to order than born free on 9/11? I wanted a tinted shield, Jason suggested the Photochromic. I've never considered paying $120 for a shiled , but he knocked $20 off the shield and had knocked $20 off the helmet, so why not?
He told me I'd have it by the weekend. My helmet arrived today. It was shipped out the same day I ordered it.
First thing I did was try it on. as soon as I picked it up I could tell it was a solid helmet, it's also a little heavier that my other two. I just tried it on for a minute or two and from what I can tell, it's a really nice fit. The cheek pad, liner, everything on this lid is REALLY nice.
The paint job is awesome and has some metallic in it.There are two round metal things on the side of the helmet that look out of place. I don't know what they are for but I assume they are there for a reason.
So far I've very happy with it. I haven't changed shields and haven't ridden in it yet so I'll have to follow up with more info.

In case anyone wants to question these readings. It was all done with the same scale in the same position. I tared it out to make sure I started with a zero each time. The KBC had a GoPro mount added to it and the Bell still have the tag attached.

Nice Helmet . Those 2 silver things are the rivets that hold the straps in place .

Re: Jason @ STG

Okay, I finally went for a ride. This shield is THE SHIT! During the day I could see so clearly driving directly into the sun. At night I could just fine out of it although it did seem slightly foggy or hazy. It's probably humid as can be but I've never noticed it with my other helmets. It may be because I didn't pay much attention then because those helmets kinda suck. Airflow seem pretty good and overall I think the helmet is pretty quiet. I also rode around with earbuds and they fit just fine with the helmet on.

Overall, I think if you are looking for a lid in the $300-$400 range, this may be the one for you. They even have some RS-1's on closeout for $219.

Long story short you asked for a $99 helmet and I slammed you with a $400 purchase including the most expensive visor in the industry. MUAAHAAHAAHAA

Zip it, I got this........

Those two metal things are what anchor the chin straps, usually people fiberglass or glue those in place.

Mine will also do this. I wouldn't say it's fogging up, just builds up a super thin layer over time. After a few cold night rides I'll notice it's time to clean the inside of the visor real quick. FYI just use a dry micro fiber cloth for this. Don't use chemicals on the inside of that visor. For my bell visors I just use water and micro fiber. Other stuff I use a spray wax/detailer.

Thanks for the thread and the purchase. I knew you'd love that helmet.

Good thing I wasn't debating between the EXO 1000 and an Arai. I would have ended up with a $2000 purchase. You would have sold me the Arai and a matching suit.

did you ask jason to try it on for quality assurance first? he likes to get nude and try the 1 pc suits on before shipping to ensure quality.
