Attached Images - what happened?

A few days ago, the site stopped displaying them for me, universally. Instead of just seeing the pics, I now see a link to them and they're always tiny / thumbnail sized.

Linked images hosted elsewhere still display normally.

Also, the drag & drop option is gone? To attach the screenshots below, I had to use the 'manage attachments' button and do it the old-fashioned way.

I'm FF but I tried IE too, same results.

Re: Attached Images - what happened?

The powers that be had turned that function off when they were working on the site ... It's been turned back on from what Iv been told .

It's all tied in with the pending password change and other stuff to make the site safer against hackers

That's how pictures have always shown over at that other place (GSXR.com). I raised the issue with tech support and am told it will return soon to how it was even if there had been no plans to set it how it was. I HATE THE STUPID LITTLE WHATEVER THAT IS SUPPOSE TO BE and makes viewing pictures so much more time consuming and difficult!! We also got a peak at the new VS motto: "VS, making things more difficult for members than they need or should be. How can we inconvenience you today?"

Re: Attached Images - what happened?

I thought it was just my computer. I keep clicking on attachments only to shut the whole forum down when I try to close them out.

No, no it's not. I'm disappointed that had it not been brought up, it would have stayed like this. They better change it back but I doubt it will be till this whole password thing is done or that was my take on the situation.

Agree and just one more reason why I use photobucket to post pictures. Makes it a little more difficult for me but better all around for members and visitors.

Re: Attached Images - what happened?

I use photobucket or link pics in from elsewhere for the most part. When it's just a screenshot or something stupid that I'd never bother wanting to upload / hotlink, attached images is good for that.
  • But disabling the drag & drop feature?
  • And even then, whatever you DO bother uploading only appears thumbnail size???
WTF does that have to do with them losing all our passwords?

I fail to understand why VS being hacked would prompt them to step so far back in functionality and user-friendliness.

Re: Attached Images - what happened?

If I were to guess...making all VS sites look and work the same. This "new" format brings GDC one step closer to how it is on GSXR.com. The staff here is not happy about it either. VS says it's easy to reset to how it was but have yet to do it.

Pretty much all VS sites are the same. After the new format, every site looks the same unless you are a member and view classic style. The difference between GDC and other sites is that staff fight them tooth and nail to have them stop dicking with the site we love. If it ain't broke, don't change it. I feel other sites, staff just accepts change without complaint but not here, not us!

Re: Attached Images - what happened?

Maybe since he has more clout, Ant will pressure VS to do the right thing.
