Locked thread, why?

https://www.gixxer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=326717

Looks like it was me that threw this one on the tracks, but in my defense I don't browse to the category and pick a thread. I click "new posts" and read the title and click one that catches my eye, I didn't know that this thread wasn't in the politics forum. Simply because I never looked and I never found it by going into "pics and vids"

So my question to the mods, would it not be more sensible to MOVE the thread to politics or DELETE the offending posts?

Otherwise you give a great avenue of a thread DoS

I'd rather see my post deleted then the thread locked with mods calling people retards, that's just retarded.

Re: Locked thread, why?

deleted stuffs hides the lulz

with 280 posts, you'll learn that most threads with anything related to the government, outside the political forum, in the title start like:

then it gets political and goes to

an admin will usually post a warning

someone like you posts another thread about a thread, while clearly missing the posted directions on using this section

and we all

So see, deleted posts; and we would have missed all the fun

Re: Locked thread, why?

So, instead of moving a thread to the right forum or killing posts, its funner to just lock the thread.

I guess, ah well, I'll try to pay attention to its location better next time.

Otherwise if I don't like an OP I know how to DoS a thread now

Re: Locked thread, why?

who has the time to watch a thread and kill posts? Then you'd have people whining about why their post got destroyed and someone else's didn't.

lock thread, boom, done. one shot one kill and we get the lulz. Even if the thread isn't funny, I still get lulz from the admin who locks it because they've been saying the same thing for like 20 years so it has to be uber annoying for them to continue to lock threads outside the correct forum. that's gotta suck.

I alway akin it to a farmer trying to corral chicken. Sure it works for a while, but then those chickens have chicks...then you gotta chase them all around again until they learn the same shit the other chickens coulda taught them

Fair enough, but is moving it also just as easy, boom done one shot - moved?

Re: Locked thread, why?

technically no. Locking is one click of a button IIRC...at least it is on a forum I admin.

Moving takes like 4 or 5 clicks. And why move a thread for something that has been repeated over and over? Don't discuss politics outside the political section. The thread itself was fine...but it went political.

People used to turn threads political all. The. Fucking. Time... Despite knowing better. So I have a zero tolerance on that now - I used to close them, now I just lock them. You guys know better.

Repeat offenders get to see the Pink Room.

Objections?

I'll keep that remark in mind if I ever see you try to do that - trolls get to see the Pink Room faster than the aforementioned repeat offenders

It was a joke, I'm not dumb enough to think that wouldn't go without a ban.

Denial Of Service

in other words, if I don't like a thread just post some political bait and watch a mod shut the thread down, therefore denial of the thread for people to participate.

I posted it as a joke, maybe people took me as serious.

Either way, my question on why it was shut down was answered, which is what I was looking for.
