My old(er) 2 Strokes

Some of you may well remember these from back in the day, alough I suspect many of you probably wasn't born when these where out on the roads!

First off is my 1981 350LC, I had an LC back in the 80s and bought this one to re-live my youth on in 2012.

Ive spent a lot of time and money on it, from an engine build to sourcing many new parts over the last few years to get it as she currently looks (as anyone with these things does..) but I dont treat it as a garage queen, it gets used regularly and hard.

Nxt weekend, ill be taking this to the South of France along with my GSXR.

It is actually a very nice thing to ride and potter around on if the mood takes you, the controls and ergonomics are fine on the older bones...hard to think this was the GSXR of the day!

Re: My old(er) 2 Strokes

Next up is my 1989 Kawasaki KR1, I bought this in May or June of this year, it had been fully restored and then sat in a chaps front room, occasionally wheeled out onto the patio to be fired up.

The owner had spent a huge amount of time and money again, all teh fairing is brand new, ive since spent a few sourcing some correct fasteners for it, just to make it 100% as it left the factory.

Huge waste not to have used it in my opinion.

Anyway, I havent done many miles on it since then but the plan is to get a nice set of expansions on it and then set it up on a rolling road over Winter 15/16.

Its only a few years ahead of the LCs but such was the pace of development back in the 80s, it looks like its decades newer.

Absolutely no bottom end on it at all, it weighs about the same as a learner 125 but it does fly when its in the band..

Re: My old(er) 2 Strokes

last my TZR250 2MA, launched end of 1986, mine however is one of the last , registered in 1990, I bought this last month with just 3,000 odd miles on it from new, it still wears its OE Dunlops.

The KR1 and RGV wiped these out from production racing but as a road bike, the Yam is far nicer ride, with a gutsier engine , even thou it may not be quite as quick as the KR1, its not that important to me nowadays.

My plan is with this to make sure its mechanically sound , replace those 26 year old tyres and use it for the occasionally meet in 2016.

Just love this classic Yam paint job

Wow,stunning machines! Saw a Kawi like yours on eBay a few years ago and found it to be a very rare bird in US. And who doesnt love a TZ(R)? They are one of,if not the baddest two-strokes in history.

Very cool!
I had an LC years ago and always regretted selling it.
