2 stroke piston direction?

Hey everyone,

I have a 1976 KM100 and I'm kinda stumped on which way this piston goes. Any input would be appreciated.

I have marked the ring pins with paper and blue marker. There are 2 rings on this piston.

The first direction has the arrow pointed to the exhaust and the pins don't contact any ports, but the skirts don't line up.

The second direction seems wrong because the pins and ring ends will contact ports, but the skirts seem to line up better.

Is this a sign that this is not the correct piston?

Why wouldn't you take pictures of it as you were taking it apart if you don't have a manual ? If I were you I'd be trying to find a manual online to download . Good luck .

Re: 2 stroke piston direction?

On 2 stroke engines the arrow always goes toward the exhaust port, if there is no arrow the pins must not line up with any port. It's possible someone has used a piston from another bike.
