So I have a 2012 gsxr750 that I bought last year. Put spiegler rennsport kit and vesrah rjl pads for track, used Moto joes technique for bleeding the brakes by wrapping insulating tape around the nipples. Ran a couple track days. Didn't really notice any issues.
While cleaning the front wheel recently, I noticed that there is a significant amount of drag - wont spin more than 3/4 turn with a decent amount of force. Isolated to the right caliper (with it off and left caliper on, wheel spins freely). Rotated discs and same results. Starting going over this thread to clean and I seem to have 1 stuck piston. All other 7 I can push in, but not the outside one closest to the brake line.
Since it seems cleaning it would be a bandaid and not completely resolve my issue if at all, I think my plan is to rebuild the caliper, altho I have never done that before. Or at least pull the piston to try and see what could be binding it. Hoping for feedback, and whether pulling the brake line off completely is the best thing to do when rebuilding the caliper, or just rebuilding in place with brake line on? Would that be dependent on whether or not I can get the stuck piston out without compressed air via the brake line port?
