Glock 42

Cop buddy of mine is picking one of these up for his off duty carry. Anyone have one, how do you like it? Watched a YouTube video on it and it seemed pretty cool.

My buddy wanted something pretty small and a single stack .380 like this one seemed perfect for him.

Cool. I'm anxious to try it when he gets it.

Re: Glock 42

Personally I wouldn't get one as I like a double stack. But as a weapon it was very accurate right out of the gate and Glocks are bullet proof. If you want a little .380 back up its a good buy.

I hear ya. Back when I was on the job I carried a Glock 36 single stack .45. The double stack .45's were a little too large to conceal comfortably for my taste. Plus my duty weapon was a .45 so I didn't need to buy much extra ammo for the 36.

Re: Glock 42

In Iraq I had a .40 S&W M&P in my leg rig with a .40 S&W M&P sub compact in a mid back holster as a back up to the leg rig. Was nice to carry the same kind mags. The back up had a shorter mag but if I had to reload my back up the shit has really hit the fan and I'm not going to worry about the fullsize mags sticking out the bottom of my sub compact.

+1 to anything Glock.
The 42 is tiny, perfect for CCW.
My daily carry was a 21 & the 36 was my back up if SHTF.

Re: Glock 42

I can't conceal most any double stack. But I also like a larger caliber than .380.

For that reason I like the Kahr offerings. The .380 is about too small physically let alone caliber. But could make a good bug. The 9mm and .40 are are the same size. So I went with the .40.

I've tried a lot of carry weapons and I always ho back to the Kahr p40

That's bottom line with CCW.
Carry what you like, what you feel comfortable with, and MOST importantly..
Carry what YOU CAN shoot.

I tried to get the dept to switch to 21's but they wouldn't. We carried s&w 4506. Single stack, double action. It was only a 9 round capacity and the glocks were 13 I believe. Those extra rounds could come in handy. Plus some guys were getting into bad habits with the double actions.

We had the choice of the 20 or 21.
I liked the 13+1 capacity of the 21.
You only gave up 2 rds., they were pretty close in size and the 21 was lighter.

Re: Glock 42

My personal carry is a G20 10mm. I wouldn't carry anything smaller then a 9mm, but that's just me. How many people are trading in their G42 for a G43 lol?

Re: Glock 42

I wouldn't touch a 42 with a ten foot pole. One of Glocks most problematic pistols they've ever produced (next to the 36.). I just picked up a 43. Over 1,000 problem free rounds so far. It does have a very stiff trigger though with quite a bit of creep (even after a Ghost connector) but it'll serve it's purpose.

I defiantly plan on buying a G43 with trijicon night sights through the Glock Blue Lable Program. I'm just waiting until I'm back in the states because it takes several months to receive the gun. If any Glock guys, or girls are military or LE, buy through the Blue Lable Program. Much cheaper.
