93 750 no start

Hey dudes, long time lurker, first time poster. So I have finally made an account after sifting through every post and thread regarding this issue. Sorry if it's redundant but I need this thing to run already!

Bought a 93 750.
Had a crankcase full of gas, drained, let dry for 2 days, filled with cheap oil to drain again.

Spark at the plugs

All of the charging system reads out right on the voltmetee

Cleaned the carbs (they were pretty clean to start with. Jets are clean, diagram seems to work as it should. Float bowls fill on all 4. Needles didn't have any grooves and the little o rings on top are all intact and seated correctly.

The bike cranks and cranks and cranks. Carb 1 (far left when sitting on the bike) keeps flowing out of the left side hole at the bottom of where the the air box boot seats.

Air box isn't on during any of this, did see that might contribute but would it really not give me one successful fire?

Toss me some ideas, I need more motorcycle in my life. Thanks dudes.

Re: 93 750 no start

Let me add I'm positive my petcock works fine, not on prime (might havebeen when I bought it, I have no idea). No gas in motor since the first time. Which also helps me eliminate diaphragms and piston rings

Can you smell raw gas from the exhaust when you're cranking it? You didn't mention it but is the choke working?

Re: 93 750 no start

Is it flowing gas when not in prime? or only when it cranks? Either way that sounds like a stuck or bad float or float needle and/or seat. Did the bike run before you got it? May be that it had other issues you may not have been aware of. Good spark at all carbs? Are all of your interlocks functioning correctly (side stand, neutral, clutch).

Re: 93 750 no start

Sorry i ghosted you guys, broke my phone 15 minutes after OP. Anywho, the bike started on a small spritz of starter fluid. after the initial start with fluid itll now start and run with choke and WITHOUT stater fluid. Now the idle will hold briefly at low rpms (1 to 3k) but jump all around to higher rpms and hold. it also back fires if i give it throttle and hold rpm for a second or 2. not a ton, but a little smoke comes out the pipe constantly while running. so my guess are 1. carb needs synced, 2. out of time, 3. Piston rings. Hoping for 1, if so id be chalking the back fire (with anice flame) and smoking up to excess fuel? Few other tidbits of info are i had no coolant or shavings in the oil, the headers have dent on one of the 2 to 1 pipe junctions.

What do you gentleman think? How do i eliminate some of my theories, what tests do i need to do for you?

Re: 93 750 no start

2nd run and drain and we got a lot of coolant this time.
Motor rAn and idled fine, actually sounded fairly healthy
waaaaaaaay less smoke, found a hole at the header joint mentioned earlier. Could that have a part in the backfire?

motor was making some noise but it wasnt a knock, maybe the timing chain tensioner?

With that being said, what next?

sorry to spam post, just providing all info possible

Re: 93 750 no start

Well, if there's coolant in your oil the only option is to tear it down and rebuild. Will be a good time to also go throughthe carbs.

Re: 93 750 no start

What does that entail? my knowledge stops at the plugs. i have no motor work experience. I get the jist of how they work but ive never physically seen inside.
I guess my questions are:

1. what should i look for on my way down to the gasket?
2. Any special or particular tools i may need? ( ive got the basics)
3. What manual do you guys recommend (seen a few different ones out there, ones gotta be easier to follow than the others)
4. when you say rebuild, do you mean a full replace-it-all or just find the problem and fix that?
5. couldnt find a disassembly video so if you know of lmk

lastly, any tricks tips and advice is welcome

I believe you'll have to remove the engine from the frame. I did on my 95 but I'm not sure it was necessary. I got my manual from here. http://www.manualedereparatie.info/e...ii/suzuki.html

Re: 93 750 no start

Well, you have coolant in the oil and some odd noises coming from the lower end so you would need to at the minimum remove the motor from the frame, pull the head and cylinders to determine where the leak is from and check timing chain, tensioner, and whatever else you can lay eyes on. No special tools other than a torque wrench for reassembly. The Suzuki service manual is what I recommend. Could be as simple as a bad base or head gasket, or could be a cracked head or cylinder, won't know until you tear it down. Either way, not a quick job, though not really difficult. Can also be expensive depending on what is wrong.

Re: 93 750 no start

Just a little update. Replaced the water pump and changed oil and the was no coolant! All I had was a bad impeller gasket and a clogged up weephole. Ran her a few times still no coolant. Replaced all the cables. Just gotta find a shifter assembly, temp sensor, thermostat housing assembly, cam chain tensioner, and top cover gasket as mine has a tiny leak. Still under $900 total investment in this bike!

That's a nice surprise, usually it goes the other way!
