Amsoil filter Old stock?

Picked up an amsoil oil filer at a local dealer and immediately noticed the number was the old stock number SMF 109, when the current number is EAOM 109. I took it anyway and told them I would bring it back if it was wrong. I also sent an email to amsoil to ask them if this older number should be used or if I should return it for the newer stock, no reply yet...

Anyone know if this filter is ok to use, seems they started the newer number sometime before 2007 according to some posts I have read. If that is accurate this filter is pretty old and I don't want to use it if there is a chance it has degraded.

Just return it and buy an OEM filter.

what would something designed to filter boiling hot oil degrade from? I wouldn't have a problem using it myself, but you'll have to use your judgement.

Re: Amsoil filter Old stock?

An Amsoil rep got back to me and he would not use it. He mentioned that internal material can deteriorate, and glue can let loose. He also said a 5 year shelf life is recommended by most manufacturers. I'm going to return it.

Yes, I ordered an OEM filter. Will take this one back and tell them to bin it...
