New here kind of

Hey everyone,

I joined this forum back in 2009 and I’ve just been lurking on and off ever since. I’ve owned quite a few vehicles since then but I’ve always wondered what I would be like if I actually pulled the trigger and got a street bike.

I’ve always had my eye on a gixxer but I’m still unsure if it would be a good first bike for me. I know everyone has a different opinion on this but I don’t mind to hear some more opinions. I’ve ridden a couple dirt bikes for a short amount of time but that’s my only real experience. I was kind of thinking of getting a R3 and riding that for a year or two and then getting a GSXR 600 but I still can’t decide.

Thanks in advance

Sounds like you've got a good head on your shoulders. An "R" bike isn't a great choice for a 1st bike. Anywho..glad you're finally official here at GDC.

Re: New here kind of

Welcome. Go with the R3 since you already have an interest in them. You can pretty much turn around and sell it for what you've paid for it once you've gotten all of your newbie/rookie mistakes out of the way. Begin studying all you can on bikes NOW and don't forget to enroll in your local MSF course.

I love the little ninja 300 ... such a sweet bike , prices are ridiculously cheap too.

Appreciate the feedback and it seems like so far we all have the some thing in mind. I’m glad to hear that starting on a 300 is approved by the guys at GDC so I don’t feel like I’m making a poor decision.

Nothing wrong with starting small ... this isnít a dick swinging contest.

You will be a better rider in the long run starting with a manageable bike
