Talking Red, White & Blue?

Plus pink and green are some of the colours found when sanding my spare 85 tank back to bare metal, also the original decals that were three layers down:confused
The original colour seem to have been dark blue on red with white decal strips, is this right for 85?
A wire wheel on a 4" grinder does a good job of cleaning up the tight corners, I would post a pic but I can't remember How
How's the summer going up north, snow to 400 meters tomorrow

luckly I'm at sea level

Re: Red, White & Blue?

I thought the 85s were red/black (see pics of Peters bike) My 86 (1100) uses red/dark blue for colours, with white and silver decals.

The 86 750s were red/black as well.

Re: Red, White & Blue?

Possibly an 86 1100 tank ? They had red/blue paint skeem. Or maybe a limited edition 750.

Re: Red, White & Blue?

The 85's came out in the blue and white as well, after all the blue and white were suzuki's racing colour & the early gsxr750 were race bikes with indicators?
So I may be working on a 1100 tank? what is the differance between the two? I know the frames are differant in the lower section but the top looks the same.

Re: Red, White & Blue?

Had a look on one of the online part symatics an the 1100 tank has differant part no's from the 750 tank, would that be due to the paint job or are they a differant shape?

I was referring specifically to the red version differences, was well aware of the blue/whites, but they weren't relevant to your convo' at the time.

Here's a pic of my 86 1100 tank, can't find my other one at the moment... but I'll keep looking for it.

Re: Red, White & Blue?

Here's a GT4 track fotochop with my bike. Good one for the shape of the tank... I would say the different part nos refer to the colours, as well as any shape differences if applicable.

Re: Red, White & Blue?

That's a beautiful bike Robben ! Do you like your winshield without the rubber trim ? My bike must have some aftermarket deal because the light above my liscense plate is moved inward. From what i know the tanks are the same size 750/1100.

Re: Red, White & Blue?

Thanks. Yeah, I was never fussy on the windshield trim, and had the same trim on my 84 GS, too. I still have the trim, it's put away safe and sound, along with the original front fender and upper triple. That's a bone stock license plate light setup on there. Yours must be aftermarket or from something else modified to fit.

Re: Red, White & Blue?

I would have been happy with any paint skeem, but i love the red blue skeem the best. I have my bike lowered in the triples about the same. I would like to get the cap, covers for the fork tubes. The pic is sweet with the back ground !

Re: Red, White & Blue?

That is one smart bike Robben, the colours are the same as I sanded throu yesterday.
The tank does fit (tryed it today) and it has a gauge sender as well.

Re: Red, White & Blue?

Best of both worlds... mine doesn't have a gauge sender in it. Might be the japan spec thing happening.

Luckily, though, I got the smaller dark amber turn signals, and zero reflectors on the bodywork thing.
