i got my racing license last weekend at Nelson Ledges thru Fasttrax and completed my first two races (finished both at the checked flag). i learned so much! my first race was a 30 minute mini endurance on saturday with a total of 18 racers and for whatever reasons i got 15th. i was the only female of the 18. so my name wasn't last on the list anyway at least. my best time was 1:33 something. the best times for 12th and 13th places were 1:30 and 1:31. sunday i did one sprint and finished 6th of 7 racers. there was another female racing on her SV and i thought she was a lot faster and more experienced and i followed right behind her the whole race. wanted to pass many times but didn't have enough courage. i finished 0.060 seconds behind her. our best laps were both our last laps, hers was 1:37 and mine was 1:34. i had a lot of fun and am looking forward to another mini endurance at Putnam on May 22nd. maybe i'll have a little advantage since others aren't as used to the track. Thanks to Fasttrax and clubracer.net for the new racer school i did on friday/sat morning. They had an essay contest i won on "Why I Want to Race." everyone at the track was helpful and offered great advice. thanks to everyone who helped me even in the least of ways, it's very appreciated. my family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers who offered any kind of support were essential. special thanks to stalemate who helped me with safety wiring and so many other things all along the way. you are a great friend and terrific guy! Here are a couple pictures. Thanks for reading.
As stalemate 27 said... You gotta beat her next time out... The courage to pass will come with experience of knowing when to & when NOT to pass... Some often forget that part & end up crashing...
