Question Can 04' gsxr 750 motor fit on a 97' gsxr 750 frame?

I blew the motor on my 97' gsxr and wanted to swap the motor from the carborated to the fuel injected. I found a decently priced 04' motor complete with everything, wiring and all. How much work would this take to change over rather thne a normal motor swap?

Well, the motor mounts are different so that would take a good deal of fabrication - steel cutting, welding, etc... It's possible but quite extensive. The mounts on '96-'99 750 (and '97-'00 600) motors are the same but after that they changed.

Also, when you say complete with everything, does it have throttle bodies, airbox, ECU, gauges, fuel pump, sensors, etc.? I'd suspect you need to modify the tank and radiator too...

...personally I'd look for a low milage '97 because it would be plug and play but if you want FI, changing to a '98-'99 isn't hard either, you just need more parts.

read the sticky on the '1000 motor swap instructions' at the top of this forum. the process is almost identical. theres a fair bit of work involved, but the bike will haul ass. i guess you'd get anout another 10-15 hp and a smoother spread of power.

I am in the process of putting a 01 750 in my 99 750.. So far I have had the mounts modded and welded and the upper rear mounts changed and welded. Not that bad if you know a good welder, or you can make the kit like Skidmark did for the 1000. I am changing wire harness, radiator, and guage cluster. Definitlely a project buy I had a hard time finding a 99 motor so I went this route.
