hey guys, my mechanic said that my front suspension has a big course when breaking, the bike lows a lot. he said maybe it has to change the oil of the suspension. what do you think? cheers
2 years on the fork oil? Oh crap... I change mine like every 6 months... lol
If the front is diving a lot, I would have the sag and spring rates checked for your wieght. I bet the springs are too soft to hold the bike and your wiehgt up anymore.
rule of thumb is to change fork oil every 7500 miles
Yeah, or evey two yeas, what ever comes first - more often doesn't hurt, obviously...
When my sister got her Kat, we changed the fork oil and I'm pretty damn sure that was the original, 10 year old oil... All black and grainy and smelled like crap Made a huge change to get new oil in
HOLY CRAP I didn't know that needed to be changed that often! Mine has never been changed... When changing the fork oil do you have to change anything else, like seals or something? Also what can old fork oil do, like if I change it what should I notice a differnce in?
You shouldnt need to change anything unless you see a problem. IE oil leaking from the seals.
If you have a lot of miles on the bike, it might be a good idea to have someone that know how to work on forks take them apart and inspect the slide bushings. I think mine on the USD fork lasted till about 40K miles and then I had to replace them.
