I prefer the 88-89 750 Frame+swingarm. Takes the USD forks easy. and the frame has less flex than the 85-87 570 or the 86-88 1100's and just a little lighter than the 90-92. Also the 1100 engine bolts in nice.
Bones
PS I,m still looking for that cover.
If I could choose Id be inclined toward a 7/11 in the 92 region for the same reasons listed. 92 seemed to get it all pretty right for building fighters
i may be wrong as i've only owned slabsides, but i remember hearing that the 89 1100 frame had an adjustment that was one year only,(rake or trail maybe?) and several serious builders like this frame. myself, had i money, i'd go with a 95 750 rolling chassis (why mess about fitting braced swingarms/usd fork/late model wheels?) and an 89 1100 motor (big bore, but tuned soft otherwise) add a new r1 tailsection, polish and paint, and hide the switchgear, and, and.....shit, i gotta clean myself up now.
I'm doing a '90 as well. It's coming along...slowly. I have the rest of the winter--which may last into April 2003--to finish it.
I'll post photos on my personal website when done.
It's a drag/fighter hybrid. I'm spending far, far too much money on it.(who hasn't said that before?)
I should finalize the displacement next week. It's either going to remain a 1371..or balloon into a 1533 if I can buy the Falicon billet long arm for the right money.
No, I'm not going to be riding this on warm days.. I've already mounted two aftermarket coolers. It looks very good. Blah....
hi there im new to this site but u all seem to have the right ideas
my fighter is as follows . . . . .
93 gsxr750wn frame+running gear(1st licquid cooled model)
89 1100f(katana) motor
96 blade rearend
renthal bars
bikini twin lamp fairing
100bhp of nos
BEWARE anyone else that goes for this mix shoud know that the motor does NOT fit this frame
i had to remove and remake all the engine mounts
and its still not finnished
Why 7/11 and not a 7/12 ? im in the process of fighterizin my 92 gixxer 750 but not quite made up my mind between both engines but leanin more towards the 1200 just cuz of the fact that it is more tourqy and newer. So why is the 1100 more popular with the 750 chasis?
Help me out!

I don't know about more tourguey and newer the Bandit's 1157 lump is a NEUTERED 90 1127 with a 1mm overbore and some sissy as cam's, the Bandit livens up nicely with some RS 38's and some wild cams

Buy a bandit and save yourself the trouble. The 02' I am rockin around Diego is certainly anything but sissy. If you want to go naked run a Bandit, if you want to take it further jet the sucker and forget about the S package. I just gutted the intake system and threw the stock exhaust the hell away. Just my two bits.....

I'd like to build a `fighter with the bandit frame, but they're still way too pricey for a cheapskate like me. Besides, if ya get the right frame/forks from the gix, the front end is already taken care of... To do one the way *I* want it, the bandit would need a new front end as well as the swingarm. ...not to mention the cams/carbs.
You can find clapped-out gix 750's pretty cheap - the only expen$ive bit is the 1100 lump.
If you come across a 89 1100 frame they are the only year with a removable shock mount like the 750. I am sitll looking for a Adjustible shock mount (Yosh was the only one that made them if I recall) but I have not seen one in about 6-7 years.
