BUYER BEWARE - FAKE \"SMART TRE\"

Hello my gixxer people,

Don't buy the "smart tre" from "sportbike_stands_direct" (ebay name). He selling a fake smart tre. All it is was resistor in side the connections. It was suppose to be a chip in side.

Re: BUYER BEWARE - FAKE \"SMART TRE\"

I do not get what you are trying to do. First you said don't buy from them because they're selling "fake" TRE and saying there is no computer chip inside. Then you ask people whether it has a chip inside or not.

I have purchased front and rear bike stands from Checkered Flags Motorsport before and they're great. But I don't know anything about their TRE.

Did you get it and open it up? Why would you open it up after you just bought it? They are sealed so you probably destroyed it opening it.

You can't destroy it all you have to do is pop it open.

You can't always believe what you see or read on the internet. People tend to glorify their producty by slightly stretching the truth. Example...calling a simple resistor a "computer chip." Unfortunately, you got sucked into the marketing scum of the internet - eBay.

Re: BUYER BEWARE - FAKE \"SMART TRE\"

Just coz he is a board member means he is a good guy????

you can see in the sellers feedback the message left by razoxx saying

"Faulty product! No communication! 2 emails, 1 phone call, no response to replace"

the seller then replied:
"Reply by sportbike_stands_direct: Unit installed in wrong location as discovered during phone call LEARN TO READ"

WTF is that shit?!?!??

I have one from checkered flag motorsports and it works perfectly fine. Mine actually looks different than yours. The tube of my tre is grey with a white checkered flag sticker. Yours seem to be a white tube and looks about 3/4 inch shorter. That's not even the same person I bought it from.

Re: BUYER BEWARE - FAKE \"SMART TRE\"

Come to think of it, I bought just the regular tre so I dont know if there's suppose to be a chip or not.

personally, i have never done business with him, but see how many people have his stands and are happy with them. i just said contact him, it is possible he sent you the wrong thing by mistake. shit happens, but rather than say "BUYER BEWARE" why not figure out the problem first

remember, assumptions are the mother of all fuck ups
the original poster is assuming he was screwed, he never said he contacted the seller. i just dont understand why people say they were screwed before they even find out the problem

Re: BUYER BEWARE - FAKE \"SMART TRE\"

Why would anyone assume I didn't contact the seller before posting? I've tried numerous times with no success. He simply refuses to reply. I've contacted his old buyers and asked them to check their TRE's and they've all responded to me with the same problem. It's obvious that the seller did not just simply send the wrong item. I'm not the only one with complaints, here's an email from another one of his buyers:

"Hi my friend...

You know what, I already had a switched TRE before buying the "supposed" smart TRE, here in Québec, it gets cold often so I had to always switch my TRE on and off to have a steady idle...... I was *VERY* surprised when I plugged the "supposed" smart TRE to notice that, it was doing the same thing as my switched TRE when in "on" position and that when in neutral, it was making no difference. I then e-mailed Scott SEVERAL times, no answers at all... For sure, it's a "not too smart" TRE but it was supposed to be a "smart TRE"... I knew the second I plugged the "Smart" TRE that it was not a smart one because it was doing exactly as my switched TRE when in "ON" position with no difference when idling on neutral... I now have a Ivan's smart TRE wich is a real smart TRE but I paid the big price but it's worth it... I didn't wanted to cut my wires and really wanted a smart TRE so I went with the Ivan's TRE...

If I can add... I purchased stands from this guy also (outside e-bay) and one was bent without any trace of being hit. I went to a shop who works on metal and they told me that the stand was not soldered properly so I have a front bike stand that is unusable....... I left feedback too early when I received the "Smart" TRE ... You can contact me by e-mail at ********@********.*** and you can e-mail everybody who purchased a "not too smart TRE" from him and you can state my name, no problem, for sure it was not a Smart TRE that was sent to me.

Sylvain"

I'll have to check mine. I got mine from Ivan's. I thought mine was sealed, but maybe not. Or maybe the one from Ivan is different.

Re: BUYER BEWARE - FAKE \"SMART TRE\"

Before flaming Razoxx fellow Gixxers ...

1) I bought stands from them, I had one that was not soldered properly wich was offset. (The front one)... Nothing to do with the stand, haven't been hit in shipping, unusable front stand, bought outside e-bay so no feedback possible...

2) We agreed on a "smart TRE" so, they sent me a "smart TRE" but was acting EXACTLY as my "old" switched TRE when it's ON, I decided to open it and guess what? It was a "normal" TRE, EXACTLY as Razoxx e-mail... I guess several people don't know what a "smart TRE" is supposed to do and I got another e-mail from a e-bay member who refuses to publish his name because he's afraid of having bad feedback from them and he performed the little tests in neutral and in gear and no difference so he also have a "not too smart" TRE.

- I e-mailed him several times, told him about the "not so smart TRE", never got any reply.

For the person wich he answered "You plugged the TRE in the wrong place", check the feedback of the customer, he replied to the feedback of sports_stands_motorbike with "It's a complete lie, I tried to call you, e-mailed you, we never spoke together, never plugged the wrong way" or something like that...

I can say though that the Ivan's smart TRE is a real smart TRE and that the JSD switched TRE is really a switched TRE. I've tried all three to make a little review in a local magazine and I've even pictured all three TRE's and since I got no answers several times by sports_stands_motorbike, I pictured the "false" TRE and published the information.

I agree with Razoxx, buyers, beware but we are all free to do whatever we want

I wouldn't be too worried with JSD's or Ivan's TRE's... Test your TRE by starting your bike and see if the idle is "perfect" when in neutral when cold outside.
