Chain Clip Link Fell Off

Brand new D.I.D chain master link clip fell off! I would suppose it is not safe to ride? my guy told me these things never fall off! Guess he spoke to soon. Anyone know where i can get the rivet type?

Re: Chain Clip Link Fell Off

probably put it on the wrong way. Did you put any epoxy on it?

I think you can order the masterclips from part411.com

Re: Chain Clip Link Fell Off

no, the closed end should face towards the direction of forwards chain motion. if it was on the other way, that's why you lost the clip....

Re: Chain Clip Link Fell Off

AFAM sells a screw / rivet link for about $14.00. You use a wrench to tighten down the outside link then break off the pins. Good way to go if you don't have access to the proper tool.
Or reclip the thing in the right direction and safety wire it.

Damn. I just noticed yesterday that my clip fell off too. Someone I was talking to suggested putting a coulpe of spot welds insted. Would this work?????

Re: Chain Clip Link Fell Off

I put it the right way on my 2002 SV650S, and I still lost 2 clips in two weeks, they are ghetto, and should not be on your bike. If you ride it hard especially, off/on throttle alot you NEED to get it riveted

Crikey, that was lucky. First thing I normally do is throw the clip link away as they are notorious for coming off, and get a rivet link fitted.
