Adding an Exhaust

Okay, so I went out and bought the 750, I love the bike itself, everything about it seems to be great, hell, I even like the stock exhaust.... it whispers...

I'm hearing from enthusiast' that this is not a good thing, they say it shoud be loud so others can hear me, but i've been in cars bumping loud music, or even light music, and not hear bikes until they are up on me, and these bikes had Yosh, Muzzy, D&D and other pipes/cans mounted...

My question is, I'm looking at adding a Yoshimura TRS to a 2000 GSXR 750... What will this improve on my bike, other than SOUND... which I like fine the way it is now...

I've also heard that if I just buy a bolt-on Yoshimura exhaust, that I want to buy a Power Commander also.. I don't want to throw away another $600 on a can and PC3... no, it really doesn't bother me with my stock can on the bike, but the Yosh is really pretty, so i'd consider springing for one used....

If I buy a Yosh can ONLY, not a full system, is it absolutely necessary to buy a Power Commander also??

Re: Adding an Exhaust

i think it is necessary to buy a power commander on any FI bike. but i guess you don't NEED to buy a pc with just a bolt on, but you should its not gonna hurt anything.

You do not "need" the PCIII for a bolt-on. I agree also that all FI bikes should use a PC or similar FI computer type mod just to fine tune fuel injection. But it's not absolutely necessary, besides the $ for the PC does not include the additional $200 for a custom map for your bike. So PC and map will equal around $400-$500 depending on the price of each together.

Re: Adding an Exhaust

I ran my 2002 750 (same as your 00) with a Yoshi bolt on for a season and a half with no PC. I even dyno ran it, and it was fine. Bit lean in the mid range, but not really worth even messing with.....ran perfect. You do NOT need a PC.

Now if you do buy a PC you can get some HP gains out of the can and FI system. With the can and no PC you will gain virtually no HP, at most 2 up top if your lucky.....with the PC you will get all of that.
Your bike uses a PCII not a PCIII. If you want one, better get it soon, Dynojet is low on them...possibly not making more.
