when its not running, and i rol it down the street it makes a funny noise, kinda like clicking coming from the rear area of the bike, i cant pin point it however, may be from the case or the wheel area. any ideas?
my bike makes a click......click............. only once in awhile w/o the motor runnin. turns out its the front right brake pads hittin the metal brace (dont know what to cvall it but its screwed down from the top of the brake assembly)
try hittin the brakes and see if it persists!!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">man is it sort of like a sound... lick lick.. you roll it faster it click more frequent.. riht..
it's sort of like rolling those bicycle's rear wheel .. right?
I thought it was very normal.
anyways,,.,... I have the same experience.. but I don't think it comes out of the chain.. but from the front sproket ....
I need answer to... Gixxer Freak.. are yah there man.. need help :-=)
Same here. Mine is definitely being made by the front sprocket. I went down one on it, ever since that click, click noise has been present. I wouldn't sweat it though...
Very common problem when changing the front sprocket... There is a BIG washer that sticks to the stock sprocket... Looks like it was part of the sprocket, but it isnt... I bet if you take your cover off you will find that the sprocket moves around a bit on the counter shaft... Check it out.. If you still have th stock sprocket, get the washer off of it (it is more like a spacer so dont go to the hardware store and get a bunch of washers.. go to the dealer if you need to).
Other then that I would have to hear it pin point it.
k i put my rear end up in the air last night...when i roll it now it makes no noises. when its on the ground it makes noise. i took it for a long ride last night and came back and now the noise isnt is loud but still apparant...maybe a rear wheel bearing? sometimes its kinda loud and other times its not a sloud, but it seems to make the noise around the same spot in every rotation weather im rolling it forward or backwards. what do you guys think?

If it is the bearings.... it doesn't sound like knocking things... it's gonna be like... when you ride at constant speed over 60 say, you will heard a noise kind of like airplane taking off.. kind of like Wuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu it gets sharper and sharper once you increase your speed...
I think Freak said the right thing.. I heard the same noise... and it doesn't come out when you put your bike on rear stand.. but if you pot it in nutral and roll it forward, you will hear it.
I think these days we get too sensitive, coz we love our baby too much.

Re: gixx 600 making weird noises
yah! If it's just a modest clicking.. sometimes it could be a mild indicator that the chain's becoming toast from not being cleaned and lubed, or being worn out in general, and the rollers are making the sound on the rear sprocket... it's typical. Probably if you do a new chain and sprockets, properly lube the chain, and adjust it good, then you'll probably not hear it anymore. I know, I had the same problem. I figured it was time to replace the chain. No probs now.
If you have lubed the chain and you still get it, then it is time to look at the wheel bearings... Are you sure the sound is comming to the rear?
Take your rear wheel off and take the sprocket hub off teh bike... You can turn the bearing with your fingers... See if they are smooth.. if not replace them... If they are smooth... look at other points... I hate to say it but there is a chance that the counter shaft bearing might be the problem...
I would also check the sprocket washer again.. Like said before..
FRONT SPROCKET SITS TIGHT AND FIRM ON THERE. WHEN THE BIKES SUSPENDED IN AIR IT DOESNT MAKE ANY NOSIE WHEN I SPIN THE TIRE, I TRIED IT WITH THE BIKE IN GEAR WITHT HE WHEEL OFF THE GROUND AND ALSO WITH IT OFF AND IN NUETRAL..NO NOISE..ONLY WHEN ITS ON THE GROUND. ITS MYSTERIOUS!
John, if you think we can fix it at very minimal cost then im on the way whenever your free. im contacting the chrome shop that exchanged my rims to see what they wanna do about it, but thse guys have been a**holes from the get go so im not sure if they will will fully exchange my wheel and get me a new one or dick me around. it took them 5 weeks to get me my wheels when they told me it would only take 2 weeks. so we will see what they have to say when i call them monday but if they tell me i cant get a wheel this week then i may take u up on that offer and come up to see if we can fix it. shyt ill bring the whole bike if need be. let me know what you think. you know what the prob is, if you think we can fix it and work good then lets do it. thanks again man..your awesome!
i think i found the problem...i pulled off the rear wheel/hub assembly. the bearing on the drive side sits in the wheel loosely...sound like that could be a problem and if so how the hell would i fix this??? and i hope the answer isnt to replace the rear wheel????
ok i took it to a rim shop today..they claim the wheel is fukd up and that the chrome shop sold me a bunk wheel. they say it needs to be re-worked (sleeved) which im told is very costly as it needs to have a sleeve made and then a machine muct turned it to fit correctly and be centered perfect. or the wheel needs to be replaced which is what i think the shop should do as i gave them a good wheel and i get one back with scuffs in the inner sleeve where the bearings sit and i can literally pull the bearing out with my finger. the chrome guy claims that this is normal...yeah right! i have seen other chrome wheels and the bearings fit snugg as they should. go figure!
im sure youll stay away from that business in the future jay, but just think about this.....(hypothetically) if you damage your rim (non-chromed), what better wauy to upgrade it and fix it at the same time than trade it and some $$ for another one....sounds low todo, but thats what i think happened to you here. The only problem is the chromer doesnt have anyway to test these trade-in parts that they swap out..............
