That's a tough one. You could try a plastic welder . Or try Fiber glassing it . Stop in at a body shop and see what they say . When I had to replace mine I went with this http://sharkskinz.com/streettailwpas...2001-2003.aspx

I'd plasti-weld and be done with it. Not like it's the first area everyone looks.

Fiberglass on the back to reinforce, then Bondo and repaint the front

Re: Fixing fairings! Easy?

fibre glass is not the best solution to plastic fairings, sooner or later, it gets vibrates away from the surface it's been applied to. Then you need to sand it right back before you can do it properly.

Avoid using glue for the same reasons, once it fails, it's a bitch to plastic weld properly.

I know of a few people who have used a soldering iron to heat a piece of scrap plastic of the same material, and sort of melted it in - which works ok but looks fugky and again, doesn't survive the longevity test.

Your best bet is whip the fairing piece off, and take it to a plastic welder, for a bit that small Id be surprised if it costs you more than $5 - Im lucky because mate is a plastics fabricator and does all this sort of thing for me when modding or repairing stuff - he also creates what he calls an 'ABS glue' (ABS is the type of plastic most fairings are made of) which he made by melting some abs, and adding some other chemicals and shit, you brush ot pour it on, and its fvckin amazing - you cant buy it though, and he wont tell me the recipe, but I have a jar of it here somewhere - great for small cracks and stuff, and required zero heat, just lightly sand and tip it on.

anyway - best shot, go to a plastic welder

He's feeding you a load of shit. I have a jar of it. It's ABS, dissolved not melted, in an appropriate solvent. Go to home depot in the plumbing section, find some ABS specialty pipe, and the ABS welding glue is right there next to it.

Works just like PVC weld glue - the solvent softens the two pieces you're joining by a bit, then as the solvent evaporates the two pieces and the ABS from the glue all solidify.

Years ago when I was a panelbeater (bodyman) I worked with a Portugese panelbeater. The guy was a genius and had skills I'd never seen before, just amazing.

Back to the rear fairing. I'd plastic weld the underside and use plastic powder and activator (superglue) for the top as it's easier to clean up and shape.
