Back in the industry again...
Career move, after 16 years managing big box home improvement/lumber yards comparable to Lowes /HD, I am back in the bike industry as general manager of a 3 line dealership. Spent 7 years in this before..... Back for another run. Tough industry, tough times. Good memories.
I have a friend who sells HD's and make a low-mid 6 figure income in NY.
I think salary is a regional thing though we have a relatively short season here.
This is a job you do partly for love and partly for money as love don't pay the bills.
I will tell you that working in this industry is not always fun & games.
Woes can come from all ends including management, employees and of course customers.

Re: Back in the industry again...
Suzuki, kawasaki, Polaris, Victory lines. The first two being my favorite of the big four Japanese so it works. I have known the owner, the service manager, and two parts guys for 22 years and they are excited and want my leadership. The previous gm is staying on board as f&I. The parts manager is pissed..... As my wife says; he can get glad in the same pants he got mad in(she teaches kindergarten).
Good to hear of quality Leadership in a powersports dealership.
Suzi and Kawi are usually a good match. Polaris and Victory hold their own and seems to be a love / hate with customers concerning those brands.
One of our guys here was at a dealership when Victory was getting started back late 90's. His even shot some commercials and dealer training footage "back in the day" for them.
Ride safe and hope it works out for you.
