Trooper shoots GSXR rider for eluding police

Seems a little crazy to me that a cop is allowed to shoot at a motorcyclist for running.

Granted, running is illegal and serious, but so is the use of (potentially) deadly force.

Most of the comments seem to think if you run you deserve to be shot. If you just murdered someone and ran, sure. If someone runs from a traffic stop on deserted roads after midnight, it doesn't seem to me it's justified.

Too bad the guy couldn't ride worth a shit. 30 miles and couldn't get away.

So now a traffic violation merits the death penalty? WTF?

Is America turning into North Korea?

He hit the rider in the leg trying to disable the motorcycle.
I can accept that reasoning. Good for the cop.

I can't.

It's not a car where the engine/tires can be shot with little to no risk of hurting or killing the operator.

Wouldn't take long to bleed out from a gunshot wound to the veins/arteries in your legs ...which happen to be wrapped around the engine the trooper was "attempting to disable".

Pretty good chance that if you shoot 4 rounds (like this cop did) at a moving motorcycle, at least one of them is going in the rider.

Re: Trooper shoots GSXR rider for eluding police

There is almost ZERO information given in that story

Did he do anything to the cop before he ran? Did he try to run over/into the cop?

did he try to run over anyone while he ran?
Was he a known dangerous felon?
Wanted?
Did he just commit another crime or was suspected of such?

there are PLENTY of reasons why a cop could shoot at a fleeing driver/rider. We dont know if any of them happened, or none of them happened.

You can't make an opinion based on a little snippet from a local news station. I'm not even gonna theorize.

Good thing the trooper was a good shot!!! That's mega excessive force, can't believe he was unable to get away. I know here in Cali it'll be a bit more tricky considering a bird would be up in the sky.

Re: Trooper shoots GSXR rider for eluding police

Considering the bike is stretched I'm assuming that's maybe why he was unable to allude them, couldn't corner. Just a reach. Agreed running isn't cool especially if it was just a suspended license.

Why put others at risk for the sake of handing out a simple ticket, there will be another day to catch someone.
