Brakes!!!!

hey guys/gals i just purchased calipher rebuilds and master rebuild for my 05 600(my brakes locked without being touched on track this year) i figure while i am doing that i should go ahead and replace the lines to braided. Can i buy these lines cheaper in kits or could i find them cheaper if i just buy the pieces somewhere?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Brakes!!!!

Can't really beat $78 shipped:

And they have lifetime warranty.

Getting all the pieces separately will likely be up in that ballpark, then you have all the hassle of making them and you run the risk of them not being fully tight - and no warranty.

Re: Brakes!!!!

SVS beat me to it. There's been some Galfers I've had my eyes on since September, but until I see my bike I can't justify buying them. Let us know what you think of your choice after you get them, please!

So you assumed because your brakes locked up that they needed to be rebuilt ? Did you check to make sure that the master cylinder wasn't over filled .

Not that what your doing is bad thing .

Re: Brakes!!!!

you should rebuild every 2 years and replace seals. are you sure the lockup was not a shitty lever? locking without touching seems like chinese levers.

Re: Brakes!!!!

Check out this ^ guy. Make sure to check your levers as others have said. A few people in here bit it from having ill-fitting knock off levers on their bikes that don't allow fluid to return to the master as the fluid heats up, locking the brakes.

Re: Brakes!!!!

Check your master cylinder relief hole, if debris or gunk get in there, your brakes Will lock. Usually with severe consequences.
Just go to any classic bike forum, people have gone over their bars and been killed this way, or severely injured.

You will need a thin guitar string to run threw the hole, the holes can be extremely small.
You might not even notice it on some MC's.
