CTEK XS 0.8 Charger

I bought a CTEK XS 0.8 charger yesterday to charge or condition my bike battery. When I connected the charger it went through STEP 1 and 2 within minutes. It was running in STEP 3 for a few hours and then switched over to STEP 4 and then STEP 5.

Why did it go through STEPS 1 and 2 so quickly? Is it because the battery is still fine and close to 80% of charge capacity? How long does the Desulphation (STEP 1) usually take?

Any advice would help! Thanks!

I've used a smaller Ctek one (like yours IIRC) and also one of the bigger ones for car/bike/boat batteries. I always leave it hooked up if I can.
If the bike has been run recently, I find it jumps through to maintenance fairly quickly. I did once put a really hammered battery in and it spent a while going through the first couple of stages though. Left it overnight to find it on the maintenance setting in the morning, and all was good with the battery

Don't worry about it, it's doing its job fine

Re: CTEK XS 0.8 Charger

Thanks Minibull!
Checked it yesterday after work and it was on the maintinance step. Will run the bike tomorrow and Friday to work as usual. Seems like the charging circuit is going to shite, but will test it during the weekend.

You guys from NZ are always friendly and you CAN play rugby!
Thanks again!
