Hey guys.
I've recently bought an SRAD 600. It has a new pilot sport on the front but a well worn BT 014 on the rear. I'm looking to replace it soon. I'm using the bike to commute to work on but still enjoy sport riding in the good weather. I'm thinking about a Pilot Road 2 on the rear to give more miles and leave the sport on the front for additional grip. Any thoughts on this choice?
I tend to ride hard in the summer months so am unsure of the Pilot Road 2's grip level?

Pilot Road 2 is a great tire and has more than enough grip for the average rider. Tire pressures will play more into the amount of traction you have than anything.
Thanks guys. I presume the tyres are soft 'ish' when you move out towards the edges. Just didn't want to be in a position where I couldn't push the bike on a nice day. I am partial to a slice of knee down on the roads.
The idea of high mileage tyres for commuting is very nice.

I've run Super Corsas on my previous bikes. Always inspired confidence in the dry but things are different now I'm commuting on my bike. Gotta calm things down these days.

I've ridden fairly hard on my Pilot Road 2s and I've never had it slip on me. I wouldn't worry about it. If you lose grip due to actual tire issues ( read: NOT cold tires or gravel ), then you're riding WAY too hard for the street. Like I said, I ride pretty hard in the twisties for the street and they've held up nicely.
I had a set of PR2's on my Busa and just had a set of PR3's put on my ZX14. These are some of the best real world street tires out there. They are very stable, plenty sticky, perform well in the rain, and have great relative longevity.
Even on the track, PR2s slid-out my rear in the exact same places I slide the rear running Pirelli Supercorsas.. and they last a helluva lot longer than supercorsas.
Unless you're a fairly serious track rider, they will never let you down.
Both the PR2 and PR3 are really good tires all around and probably more capable than their category " Sport Touring" gives them credit for. We ride with several guys with Liter and bigger bikes and most have them on. They do well almost everywhere we ride and end up with more miles on them as well.
Great street tire. It will not let you down cornering wise. I got about 10k km out of my rear.
Has anyone used the Dunlop NTEC SportSmarts and how many miles did you get out of them?
Some people claim about 8k km on the street.
