I've done quite a few seasons on my NSR50 and it was a total blast! Not only is it cheap to race, it's very cheap to maintain. Since I've owned the bike (2004), the only thing I've replaced is one spark plug and the trans oil a few times. Other than that, my 04 NSR is still the way it was from day 1! Including the tires which have hundreds of laps on them!
Most of the guys I know are racing mini supermoto's like the KX65. These are much faster than the NSR but are also much cheaper than setting up a CRF150r for mini moto racing.
Lots of options out there from NSR's, NSF's, KX's, Mertakit's and many more.
BTW, although these might seem like toys, don't let their size fool you, they can really bite you in the ass if you're not careful.
